Clean the tape path, that any thing the tape come in contact with. there is a roller that presses the tape against a metal guide. The roller should be dull not shining.

1) 70% of the time, I put any VHS tape into my Sylvania DVC840E DVD/VCR Combo, the VCR immmediately kicks the Tape right back out again. Majority of the time, I have to push the tape in at least 4 or 5...

There is a mode switch operated mechanically after inserting the VHS tape. Locate it. First try using switch cleaning oil. If it does not work, then the mode switch has to be cleaned using very fine polish paper (specially used for cleaning electronic contacts) after dissembling.Warning:-Removing & fitting the mode switch is very tedious job. The sequence in which it operates is important. If the sequence goes wrong, it will damage the gears. If you are not sure do not carry out these repairs on your own. It is better as it is now. Try to get the service manual.

Sylvania MTS/SAP tv/vcr/dvd combo turning itself off

could be that either the dvd or the vcr are malfunctioning, usually it is the vcr that creates the problem. If you turn tv on and set vol to low see if you can hear the noise of the motor loading or trying to load, with out a tape inside. It may be a good idea to have a qualified tech repair it, these units are difficult to work on and further problems may come up if you are not familiar with the tv.

Hello, My vcr tape will not eject and it was working fine an hour ago. Do you know what the problem is?

Have looked through the manual Sylvania DVC-800C DVD Player / VCR Combo and there is no mention of a tape not ejecting. if its under warranty give the dealer a ring. If dvd`s stick and nothing more can be done then have tried the belo. http://www.ehow.com/how_2036282_remove-dvd-player.html

VHS side eats my tapes and spits them out

Hi
Sorry but you may need some repairman to look at the machine. There could be a problem with the transport, winding around head, pinch rollers dirty, belts gone bad and other faults-electronic components gone bad.Take an estimate from the repairman and see if worth to repair the machine.
Did you try another tape? How old is it ?
Hope this helps

HELP! I can't figure out how to Connect my Sylvania DVD/VCR Combo to my older TV

Even if you do get it connected you cannot copy from vhs to dvd as you have bought a vcr recorder with dvd player, not a dvd recorder. You can only record to the vcr tape from a dvd, in the players controls.
