Ice doesn't dispense and both freezer and refrigerator aren't cold enough

We've had our GE GSH255JSTSS fridge for about two years now. Earlier this year the freezer stopped dispensing the ice cubes. It would still make ice but when we press on the dispenser it wouldn't do anything. After a while, the water started not to work. It would start making a clicking noise and the water would shoot out sporadically with each click. NOW, this last week the freezer stopped working. We noticed food starting to defrost. On top of that, the refrigerator side is not as cold anymore. Please is there an inexpensive way to get this fixed? Help!

Yes. pull out the frig and look on the back. facing the back on thr right hand side there a rectangle metal plate. under that plate is the main computer board that controls the whole thing. they have been causing alot of problems one of which is the one your having. replace that board and your problem is solved

Ge bottom freezer not freezing
Check to see that the evaporator is not covered with layer of ice. The latter serves as an insulator and prevents freezer temps from going down to about zero degrees. If the defrost heater/timer is defective that will certainly be a cause. Since the freezer air is not cold enough to freeze, then the refrigerator temps are also high. Using a digital thermometer will confirm this.

Leaking door gaskets can also be responsible for higher internal temps

My fridge keeps freezing my food
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Freezer is cold but not keeping icecream frozen.
If, the fresh food section is 34- 38 degrees, then the freezer should be cold enough to keep ice cream solid. All of the cooling capability comes from the freezer section. I, personally, would not waste time or money on a ten year old box. Ten years ago it cost $1000, so, the outlay is $100 per year. Dump the old refrigerator and get a new one.

fill the ice maker with water manually, if you have ice in the bucket you know that the ice maker is working , after check the water valve if is opening , if it is replace main board

GE side by side. Freezer cold, fridge kinda cool
Generaly the control board controls everything sometimes you have a bad thermister GE has a help line I beleive it costs 20.00 bucks but you will need a meter and know how to use it and they willl talk you thru the repair .
