SOURCE: my frdge compartment is freezing

Pehaps the damper door motor is burned out or the damper door is just stuck open causing to much air to flow into fridge side. Damper door is located at the very most top-back-left corner of the "fridge" side.... goodluck...

SOURCE: Amana refrigerator fresh food control does not work at all

first of all, check to make sure your fan is working, also check the inside compartment for the damper should be open when your rise or lower the temperature settings on your dial. when you rise your temperature dial to 5 you should feel air flow coming out of the damper, if not check to make sure that the evaporator fan is working first, if it is than check the damper door should be open sometime this damper door gets stuck on something or they break off.

Gfe29hsdss Is freezing food in fridg compartment & ice accumulated under the fresh food compartment

Food freezing in fresh food compartment is most likely a bad thermostat/ control board, or a damper that’s open too much.

Amana SZD22MB2L is freezing in refrigerator compartment

I would start with checking that hte air damper that controls air coming from the freezer over to the fridge is working properly. Thats more than likely the issue. Just in case also check that the temperature control is working as designed

Amana AFI2538AES The refrigerator portion keeps freezing the fruits and vegetables. The chiller control is on the warmest setting and the refrigerator temp is set at 43. I have been raising every once...

Our Amana afi2538aes is doing the same thing. Had a repairman out. He called tech support at Amana. They had him adjust the "thermistors" but it is colder than ever running at 28-30degrees in the fresh food compartment despite being set at 46 degrees. Tech support also recommended installing some sort of "ice bin seal kit to take care of the problem" according to our invoice from repairman. Repairman was told that the ice bin in the fresh food compartment puts cold air out (to keep the ice frozen) which freezes the food in the fresh food compartment. I called Amana and the rep I spoke to said he couldn't find record of this being a problem with the model but tech support told our repairman "we've had a lot of problems with this happening."

My refrigerator freezes the food in the main compartment. What should I do?

Hello, you do indeed have two control in this fridge. One is just a damper control (It's attached to a baffle box that regulate the amount of cold air from the freezer into the fresh food compartment). The other is the cold control sometimes called the thermostat in your fridge, it's the one on the right. What's happen is that the contact in the cold control have fused together keeping the compressor running all the time and freezing everything. You will need to replace the cold control.
Thanks

Hi, I don't know the model number of my Amana Side by Side fridge. Do you know where that information might be located on the fridge? The problem is that it runs all the time even when both dials are set...

Good day,
Yes, it's the thermostat. On Amana's it's usually the freezer control. The fresh food control was usually a damper. It will be the one that if you turn it to the off position, the machine will stop running.
However, in your case, since it's malfunctioning it may continue to run anyway.
The model number on contemporary models was on an embossed plate located on the top or side interior of the fresh food compartment. It is never on the door.
On older models it was on a plate on the front rail, behind the kick plate.

If you can't find it, you'll need to remove the tstat and take it to an appliance parts house. The thermostat has a part number on it.

Removing the thermostat depends on the model.

Top of my ref. freezes items in the vegetable keeper plus on the bottom shelf if placed to far to the back

If your model is the ABB1927DE between the freezer compartment and refrigerator compartment there is something called a Air damper control assembly. Sometimes they just get stuck open but other times the the power that changes the damper opening or closing. If you could ask for freezer colder and fresh food compartment warmer on the controls and nothing changes then it is a toss up between the control board inside the fresh food compartment and the Air damper control assembly. I will give you some time to see what I am talking about with photos and illustration's. I will return soon, Thanks,Sea Breeze

I have an Amana BRF20V1S refrig w/bottom freezer. I cannot put fruit or veggies in the bins as they will ALWAYS freeze. I have the fridge compartment at setting 1 right now, and it is still extremely...

Good day,
Tricky problem.
The fresh food compartment gets it's cooling from the freezer.
When running zero degree air is blown up the back wall and out to the fresh food compartment thru a modulating thermostat.
This modulating tstat is continuously opening and closing .

I have seen many of these where the spring that tries to keep the flap on this device closed, has popped off.
If you can find the spring, it usually can be reinstalled, if not, you have to replace the whole control.

If that control is working O.K. another problem is at play.
During cooler weather, and light usage, the machine tends to stay off longer.
This causes the air in the machine to stratify. Warmer air rising, colder air falling. Thus, the warmer air reaches the modulator at the top of the machine, and throttles it wide open.
On the next running cycle, it allows a large volume of near zero degree air to enter the fresh food compartment.

Here are two possible solutions. The first cannot be verified.
A user claims that the return air vents behind the crispers got blocked by various items from food handling, and prevented the cold air at the bottom from returning to the freezer.
Your using a foam at the bottom would only make the matter worse.

The second option, would be to replace the modulating thermostat, and test for results. It's a pricey part.

Hopes this gets you some results..

Salad in drawer is freezing

Good day,
One user claims that the return air vents or vent located at the bottom rear of the fresh food compartment, have collected enough junk to block the cold air from returning to the freezer compartment. You can clean them out but I cannot verify that solution.

The crispers are located in the coldest part of the fresh food compartment.
This problem can occur when the machine gets light usage especially in colder weather, when the machine running time drops and the air in the fresh food stratifies, causing to cold air to pool in the bottom.

Normal may no longer be normal. Controls by their design will tend to run colder as they age. You might try tweaking the control warmer.
Patience and time are the most important tool you have to work with in dealing with this issue.

Working fridge, warm freezer.

The fresh food compartment is cooled by air being blown from the freezer compartment into the fresh food compartment.

There is a panel, or door if you will, that separates the freezer and fresh food compartments. The freezer temp control determines how much cold air is allowed to escape into the fresh food compartment by opening or closing this panel.

In your case, the door must be stuck all the way open, allowing all the cold air to be diverted into the fresh food compartment. The compressor cycle is controlled by the thermostat in the fresh food compartment and thus 'short cycles' because the fresh food compartment acheives normal temperature while the freezer is relativel warm.

If the panel is restricted from moving (stuck in the extreme open position, for example), the fresh food compartment will get VERY cold while the freezer will be warm.

Try thoroughly defrosting the refrigerator. Possibly an accumulation of ice is preventing the panel from moving and/or is diverting all the cold air from the freezer into the fresh food compartment. It's a free fix and may solve your problem altogether.

If that doesn't help, or helps only temporarily, you may have a problem with panel/door/flap itself or the linkage that connects it to the control mechanism. Unless you're skilled in appliance repair, checking and repairing these components will require the help of a service technician

Hope this was helpful. Good Luck.
