When i switch it on it takes time and also when i want to open music or movie folders is very slow
Your PCs husband died, sorry my bad.... LOL
slow is a subjective term , to me all PCs are slow.
(unless I lay my grimy mitts on them)
How much RAM do you have 1gig?
is your HDD full?
did you upgrade to SSD but wise if fast is your aim,
is the PC infected. ?
is your AV engine running, at least windows defender + free malwarebytes.
what music where, mp3 files in a folder? or what are they?
the extension of the file name matters. mp3 is common,
wav is too but are huge and slow, but best sound of all.
how many are there, 10 or 10,000.?
what player are you using,.?
I'd never touch MS media player ever. not me,?
run fast free players that don't track you.
if most windows screens are fast, and only MP3s are slow
say that first. if all things are slow say that. I can not guess or see you do things. (my PC has over 100apps and runs fast)
try BOOM player free.
https://perkele.cc/software/boom
lean and mean, and supports
: MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, Musepack (MPC), WavPack, WAV, AIFF, MP4/M4A, WMA.
or get VLC from, French, it runs too fast and not spyware.
I love VLC, as to 100s millions of others.
if all of windows acts slow run CCcleaner, free. find the free on.
defrag your hdd if it is a hdd,
if the hdd is near full , clean it out of old things not need
or clone it to a larger HDD. better to SSD.

SOURCE: a folder take too much time to open
Hi Nik,
There are a lot of variable that can affect file and folder access speeds, number one is the size of each, followed by how full the drive is and degree of fragmentation.
The first and easiest steps to take would be:
These two alone should notably increase your access speeds.
Hope this is very helpful

Hi Friend,
You should install the antivirus in your HP Pavilion because there is some virus in your Laptop ...you should scan your laptop by anti virus. You should update the drives from the internet in weekly..

My first suggestion is to try to attach it to another computer and try to access the disk... if it still has this issue it would indicate that something has become corrupted on the disk. You could run a data recovery utility if it has the same problem on your friends computer... There is special software out there that will scan the disk and try to recover any bits of information it can see, usually far more than you can get to just by using windows. I would definitely suggest you try this, it can't hurt and may get many of the files you want back. Here is a site with a list of the best FREE data recovery utilities:
http://free-backup.info/data-recovery-software.htm
Download one or two and try them out and see if it can grab the files you want, then format the drive and start again. Definitely make sure you back up your data in multiple places in case this happens again! No hard drive is guaranteed to last or not have problems...
SO sorry about that,
Tim
