SOURCE: Bunn coffee maker trips the breaker
It is possible that you have a short in your limit thermostat, but most likely this is caused by small holes in your main heating element. these units start to split length ways down the element, causing a short to ground through the water. These elements are readily available at your local Bunn repair shop.
SOURCE: 4-Way Switch wiring
Hi,
Here is a website that has great wiring diagrams for you and also a video about wiring these switches.
Your problem is that you have a "hot" going to a "common at one of the switches when you flip a swtich. This trips the breaker.
It can take alot of time and be very frustrating to find the culprit wire if you are inexperienced with three and four way circuits...it even takes a pro quite a while to figure these out someitmes. And Ohm meter is a must and you need to pull all the switches out with the power off and start tracing out each wire till you find the bad one.
You need to make sure that your switches are wired EXACTLY as the diagram shows.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!
Thanks for using Fixya!!

SOURCE: when I turn grill on it throws the breaker
Try a different outlet, maybe the breaker is bad with the one you are using. The hot rod could be bad as this seems to be a problem with Treager grills. They should be under warrenty so call and have one sent to you. To check the hot rod, unplug your grill and the reach up from the bottom and unplug the purple wire. Plug the grill back in and see if it will start. If it does, it is the hot rod.
