SOURCE: Machine won't draw the paper in to send the fax

Technically, your machine is jammed. The paper is jamming as it exits the feed area, and enters the machine. Not being specifically familiar with that model, but rather based on experience with other simular machines with like problems, I would say you should look for 3 possible causes... Most machines have, shortly into the paper path, and generally in the area you're indicating, some sort of sensor switch, whether it be photo-electric, or a mechanically activated toggle, that senses and registers the lead edge of the paper so the machine knows it did feed. This switch could be knocked out of place, or simply dirty, and not sensing the lead edge of the paper within a certain period of time after the machine registers the feed had been actuated. A second possible cause would be (and you may be able to visually verify this) is that usually, in these types of machines, there is some sort of pressure or "retard" pad/roller in conjunction with the feed roller. If this isn't working right, the machine may be feeding more than one sheet at a time, and becoming jammed in the paper path path area due to "thickness". A third possible issue could be an unremoved scrap of paper from a previous jam (or a staple/paperclip/piece of rubber-band/or any other foriegn object, as I've seen them all) still remaining in a thin and obscure position of the paper path blocking the paper's progress to the afformentioned switch. Those are the most likely, but probably not the only possible, causes of the problem you are exoeriencing.

SOURCE: Huge paper jam ( piece of a checkbook)

Throw it out and buy a new one! staples won't replace this unit and your gonna have to take it apart and clean the gears.
Also tell your employees to stop reversing the drive gears with paper inside the bucket it only reverses the flow and jams the unit.
I would buy a cross cut shredder next time.
Hope that helps.

There are 7 screws. You missed the one hidden under the small silver label.
Once you take it apart, don't waste your time calling Aurora as you voided your warranty and ability to get help from them. That happened to me.

Shredder will not turn off

Unplug the shredder from the power outlet. Remove the paper canister. You will need a can of air to blow all areas both from inside of the shredder around the blade area and outside of the shredder around the blade area. After you complete that part, Check the sensor area to make sure no paper is jammed around it. Plug the shredder back in and turn it on. If that fixes the problem, get a sheet of paper and put some shredder oil on it and put it thru the shredder for lubrication.

Hi, my Aurora AS1002MSB is jammed and it will only go in reverse. Is there any way to fix it?

Hello,

Move the power switch to AUTO (l) position and depress the manual forward button for five seconds to clear paper blockage. Make sure the paper is engaging sensor located in the center of the shredder opening.

Good luck....

I have an Aurora Shredder -- Model #AS1512X. Paper got jammed and I pulled the paper out and now the shredder will not work. Any ideas as to how to fix this?????

Check safety and detection switches. 1. Safety is on the bottom and left or right side of shredder unit inside a narrow gap. On the bucket's wall there is a natch witch should go into the gap, when you put shredder correctly. Check if switch and natch are on the same side. Simple turning around will solve problem. 2. Check a detection switch. It is located in the middle, inside of gap. This switch engages and turns motor on when you put paper into shredder. In other words sheets of paper should push the switch first before touching shredding rolls. If you have digged out that paper from the top side, chances are you have broken that switch.

If I put the document in straight it won't shred. I can get it to shred if I insert it on the left hand side - there seems to be some kind of jam on the right hand side.

Unplug it first. If you are certain that there is a jam, take the top off and flip it upside down. Use a pencil or other object that is NOT YOUR HAND and try to remove some of the paper jammed up. It is also possible that there is only a sensor on the left hand side. If this is the case there isn't much that you can do. Hope this helps and tell me how it works out!

Our Aurora AS1712X paper shredder is jammed in a couple of places with paper so badly that we cannot free the jam and the tooth wheels cannot turn freely. Is there an easy way to clear the jam?

Try running the shredder in reverse and oiling the blades. More help with paper shredder oil here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Paper-Shredder-Oil

If you can't get the paper shredder up and running, it looks like you might have to pick up a new paper shredder. Paper shredders can be pretty cheap though, great guide to cheap paper shredders here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Paper-Shredders

I was shredding and I put 2 sheets in and the shredder jammed.

You don't mention if its x-cut or not......however, try putting some lightweight shredder oil on a sheet of paper and then shred the paper with the oil on it...do this a few times to get oil into the cutting blades then see if that has helped.

Aurora AS1512X Cross Cut Shredder

Sounds like the cutter is jammed. Do you ever feed staples or clips in it? Will it reverse? If not, the power borad is burned out.
