Hi if the radio is the coded type you will need to know the code to enter it back in when the new battery has been installed
Also when removing the battery connections always remove the negative first.

Fuses, and make sure you got all of the wires hooked to the alternator, and that they aren't burn't. Some older vehicles had "fusible links" which is a wire that opens when the load is too great. It's like a fuse.
Have you tried removing the battery, open the reserve battery door, disconnecting cmos (RTC) battery, pressing power button, installing RTC battery, install battery, power up?
