You need the cure lock code to change it. There is no work around as that would defeat the purpose of it. The only possibility is to leave it unplugged for a very long tine...like weeks or mobths. Once the microprocessor has been without power for a while it will default to factory settings.

This maybe a powerline glitch. Reset the TV may help. Disconnect TV from powerline for 5 minutes, then reconnect and power on?

Don't know if this can be regarded as a fix, but it may help deal with the issue- keep the lock set on, only unlocking it briefly enough to make keypresses, after which you immediately set it back on lock. If the problem your unit has is the same as with mine, you will see LOCKED pop up on the screen randomly even when you are not pressing any keys. So there is a mechanical problem with the keyboard, some kind of electrical interference being interpreted as a keypress, or buffered keypresses.

Chances are, you are trying to view on the station set for your VCR or other peripheral equipment, such as channel 3 or channel 4. You need to be sure that you have your TV set for on one of the two auxillary stations, instead, which will show up on your TV as "Aux 1" or "Aux 2."
