How to connect an expression pedal to a Boss gt-3

Just plug FS-5U or FS-5L or EV5 / FV300L (Roland),or other external switch to SUB EXP PEDAL.
You can also use pedal switch that you create by yourself.
Use stereo phone jack and cable.
It can be function for 1 or 2 switch.
Setting function for SUB-EXP-PEDAL is at UTILITY-GLOBAL menu.
You can set switch 1 or 2 for what do you want to function each switch at the external pedal.
If you want to connecting external expression pedal (FV300L),just plug it to SUB-EXP-PEDAL. Setting is same as above.

When I plug the damper pedal into my Roland ep 77 the damper comes on and stays on no matter if the pedal is pressed or not pressed.

Try plugging in the pedal with the Roland powered down or off. With the pedal plugged in, turn the Roland on again. The Roland should sense the polarity upon power up. If this doesn't work, I have had those pedals get defective right out of the box, so try this...Get a ΒΌ inch guitar or signal cable and plug that into the damper jack. The cable will represent an open circuit polarity since nothing is shorting out the leads. See if the EP77 is sustaining or if it is not. Alternately, try shorting the guitar cable by laying a piece of metal across the top and bottom of the jack. A pocket or kitchen knife or any bare wire will do. If this does not work, your assumption about the power supply may be correct.

ROLAND 2480 RECIEVE ERROR MESSAGE SUB SYSTEM NOT RESPONSE

This means the low-level part of the operating system is corrupted or missing. Simply try reloading the OS by putting the CD into the CD drive. If it does not allow an OS reload or if it fails, most likely the flash ROM which holds the basic part of the OS has been zapped and will require service. You can also try to replace the internal button battery inside that retains the memory.

Couple of keys dont respond well and I tried cleaning pad under keys

The conductive rubber pill contacts AND the traces oin the circuit board should be cleaned with 99% isoprophyl alcohol, nothing else. Use a Q-Tip moistened with the alcohol.

Roland GK-2A pickup. g string does not respond

I have the same problem. Only the 1st, 3rd and 5th strings respond. This is not a sensitivity adjustment. The unit does not see the strings. I called Roland and was able to purchase just the pickup itself rather that the entire GK-3. The pickup was about $35 but took 4 weeks to arrive. When it finally got here I was excited. It was not difficult to remove the old and replace it with the new. I plugged it in. NOTHING CHANGED! I believe and hope it ti the 13-pin cable. I have read where these cables are just poorly made and many users have spent a considerable sum on the cable, most recommending having one in reserve always as they are sure to go out.
