It is possible the heating element is burnt out, or the safety fuse has been fried and is opened not allowing power to the element.

You have to open the desktop case to get access to the HDD, then remove the mounting screws holding it in place, and disconnect the cables. Revere to install new one. Use of a ground strap on your wrist is advisable so any static discharge won\'t fry any on the chips etc.

Make sure you have power at that outlet. If so, unplug and look for damaged cord. Then open and look for blown fuse.

Is it repairable, well, this question can be answered only after opening the back cover and evaluating the damage. From you side, please connect the TV to a different power outlet where other similar devices are working and see. Then try changing the input device to something that sure works. If it does not work even then, this may need attention by a qualified service technician.

Your thermostat has probably got its contacts withing fried together and it is not shutting down.
Obviously the compressor and fans are working fine. It has to be in your control. Your ice box has a mercury based control. The temp is controled by it and nothing else. It can fail by burnt out contact. (open) OR Fried together contacts (stuck together won't shut down). OR Loss of mercury in the probe.OR kinked probe.

Unfortunately, you're not asking the right people. This site (Fixya) isn't a manufacturer's site, and has nothing to do with any product sales. The software isn't "our product". You can try contacting the software manufacturer. You'll need to register with them and submit a ticket describing your issue, but then maybe you'll be able to get a hold of someone there who can do something. You could also try contacting Fry's and plead your case, but with software it's difficult. Once software is opened most vendors won't take it back unless it's defective, and then all they do is give you a new copy of the same thing.

You can't really blame the salesperson. There's so much software and so many versions that they can't know everything about all of them. About all you can do is read the information on the box and try to figure out if it will do what you need and if your system will run it, or research which version of a program you need ahead of time so that you know what to grab at the store.

It sounds like what you fried is the diodes on the alternator. You are probably due for a new alternator. On the bright side, it's much cheaper than the computer.
