You cannot fix this without power it off and waiting a few minutes. After it restarts,l try again.

SOURCE: I have a ARCHOS 28

We had a similar problem yesterday. It happens as soon as we plug in to USB cable to PC. We found that after we left it for some time it did eventualy kick back in to life. We could use it until we plugged in to USB again. Trying to find a solution to the problem right now. You can press and keep hold of volume up button while you turn back on and that kicks in the diagnostic software menu. From there you can find the "Force screen calibration" which we did but it doesnt sort out the problem of plugging in USB

SOURCE: My Archos 101 tablet's full sized USB port doesn't

This seems to be a widespread problem with the Archos 101 tablet. There have been 2 firmware updates since the problem was first reported, and neither seems to have fixed the issue for anybody, which strongly suggests that it is a hardware issue, in which case you'll need to do an RMA. I recommend contacting the retailer you purchased through so you can get a replacement unit or a refund.

SOURCE: Archos 101 internet tablet cant get

Try this:
Power your Archos 101 off by holding the Power Button for 10 seconds (this fully shuts it down).
While holding the Volume + button power it back up (tap power button to start up, hold volume until the tablet enters recovery mode, you'll see a series of choices instead of the demo mode).
Choose the Format System option.
When this process is complete make sure not to select Demo Mode as Android boots and the Archos 101 gets up and running.

Samsung trouble shooting

Almost certainly you have a broken screen. Replacement screens run about $140 and are not very difficult to replace yourself. A website that provides these screens and a "how to" video on their replacement can be found at: http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Archos/101%20G9%20TABLET%20TURBO/
Be sure that you are requesting an exact replacement before ordering. I am not affiliated with this website, and am sure there are other sources.
You may wish to search eBay for a used "for parts only" replacement at a fraction of the cost such as this one which last bid was a little over $10: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Archos-101-G9-TURBO-10-1-8-GB-Tablet-no-power-/111364604971?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item19edd9042b
Alternatively, you can buy a nice used one for about $100 at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Archos-10-1-Android-Internet-Tablet-101-16GB-Wi-Fi-IN-BOX-with-access-501594-/251536519730?pt=US_Tablets&hash=item3a90beb232
I personally would go with the last choice and keep yours for spare parts. Good luck!

Where to buy lcd screen for archos 80 g9

not sure you want to do that you can google it, it does come up with places that sell it. problem is they dont always work you may have to buy 2 they will charge you to fix it if it is out of warantee aprox 25% of the value of the device or just shiping if still under warantee but LCD/LED is not coverd by warantee if you can convince them that the display malfunction is something other than the LCD/LED they will replace a waranteed one for shipping charges alone no questions asked but you have to convince them it is some thing other than the phisical display its self wich should not be too dificult they are pretty durable and can still display a fairly good image even when cracked in multiple places often the touch screen will also still work when cracked too not very many tablets can say that :) hope that helps

Hi, my Archos 80 g9 display screen is broken, can i buy new display from you?

the display screens can be purchased but good luck finding some one to install it just google it and buy 2 because often some of them dont work from the factory ooorrr you can have archos fix it wich may be cheaper and easyer about 25% of original cost and they will test it and make sure it works before sending it back or send you a new one the screen problem is not specific to archos its specific to that type of screen they have a half life of about 5 years but may die sooner under constant use or abuse and some die as soon as they are powered having archos replace it prevents you from having to buy multiple of them to find a good one samsung also uses the same type of screen but does not use the laminating or layering proces that archos uses to increase the durability and third party screens also dont have this eather so having archos do it will also ensure you get a laminated and layered set up that will last you a bit longer than one you might purchase after market and have some one put in for you

My screen is cracked, how do I get it replaced?

You can do it yourself, but BE CAREFUL: buy just the same touchscreen, the one with the similar attributes (check your Technical Specifications of your device!).
So... let's start:
1. open the cover (use a screwdriver)
2. get the LCD out
3. put the replacing screen in place
4, it's done (after you will screw back all screws!)
A SIMILAR SCREEN for your Archos 101 is called Pixel Qi.

And here you have all technical details concerning your screen. REMEMBER: the replacement should meet THE SAME SPECIFICATIONS!!!

Hi Just got my new archos 101 8gb Spec said 2.2 but it came with2.0.54. on plugging in to PC the upgrade didnt happen so upgraded to 2.1.04 Everything that I have thrown at it works but I dont have...

Betty,
Archos has been saying Flash would be officially available for some time now, but it's still not out. There is a beta version that I'm using, works great for me:
First step to getting Flash working is to go to your settings menu, then Applications, then check the box to allow for Unknown Sources to be installed.
To get a Beta version of Flash working use this link (from your Archos tablet):
http://ge.tt/36fA44X
You should be prompted to install this APK file on your Archos 101 after it's downloaded, this will give you a decent version of Flash (it's taken from a Droid X which has similar hardware to the Archos 101).
The Version number of your Archos 101 firmware is different from the Android Operating System. Version 2.1.8 is the latest Archos firmware as of Feb 28, 2011, this is Android 2.2.1.
To force an update, you actually need to connect the Archos 101 to the internet, not to a PC. Once you're connected to a Wifi network and have access to the internet, go to your Settings, then scroll to the bottom to About Device. On this screen is a Firmware Update option, this will check for and download the latest. Once it's downloaded you'll be prompted to plug your tablet into the charger and restart it to apply the firmware.
