SONY LCD Tv Question: 9 yr old 46" Sony KDL-46W5100 suddenly went black. No picture/No sound. TV powers on ..Front green "on" light is lit, Sony logo white light is on. When first powered on, screen shows a very faint white backlight, then goes dark in 10 seconds. When opening up the case, see 5 boards...all look replaceable. I want to know if I can determine, for sure, which board(s) are bad before I invest in any parts. Is that possible for a non-Tv tepair person, but knowledgeable about computers ( i.e. I should be able to swap them out myself)??? Thank You for your time, Tony

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.

most likely, buy you a lamp and install it yourself, the owners manual tells you how to do this.

Reset the tv and the cable or satalite boxes,replug it back an hour later let the tv reset it self back to factory setting and the boxes upgrade it software.The tv should work now.Not,than yes.It the Tuner main board.
