SOURCE: CMOS or RTC battery for this laptop : can it be replaced

Hi AshishB, Yes, Toshiba does refer to the CMOS battery in their literature as the real time clock battery. Your retailer is half right, the battery is on the motherboard but its attached via a connector and it can be replaced. Here are links to a couple of venders that sell the RTC battery for your laptop: - Http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Toshiba,Satellite,L15-S104,Laptop,Batteries-Backup-RTC.aspx - http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-Laptop-motherboard-battery-cmos-L15-S104_W0QQitemZ170060189842QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3666QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate the posting.

SOURCE: 2001 Infiniti QX4 low beam bulb replacement instructions

Look directly behind the headlight box if there is a rubber sleave covering the plug take it off. Unplug the wires from the bulb, there may be a saftey clip you will have to pry up to get it off.after you get the plug off the bulb holder should twist counterclockwise then it will pull right off. When you change the bulb just remember to wipe your body oil off the bulb before attaching it back into the headlight box. Then plug it back in and your in business. The high beam has three wires and the low beam has two wires. The bulb will have to be the right one.
God Bless You Greg

SOURCE: internal battery needs to be replaced on my Dell Dimension 4600.

Unplug the computer. Remove the side cover. This is probably held on by two or three philips head screws on the back left edge of the unit. On the motherboard, look for a flat, round, shiny piece that resembles a nickel. This is the battery. There should be a small metal tab that holds it in place. Push on the tab and the battery should pop out. Note the orientation of the battery and replace with a new one in the same position.

My 3000 N200 does not go past the screen displaying the lenovo/intel/energy star logo. pressed the care button and followd prompts already. anything else I can do?

lenovo screen is BIOS POST (power on self tests) failing.
it means hardware failure, 99% or 1% HDD OS is corrupted.
all PCs do this at 5 years (par)
PCs fail for 2 reasons, batteries bad, or HDD bad.
2 things wash wear repeat,
made 2007. 15 years old today, and ran for 15 years and failed just now. or stored for ages and today out of dusty box it fails.
sure and sure. regardless, if not serviced,
this PC came in screen sizes, not told by you and here is the waring
in the manual of your PC.

i your
computer is one of 15.4-inch display models,
charge the cmos clock battery for more than 8
hours by connecting the ac adapter and run bios
setup utility t reconfigure the system. (SOLDER DOWN BATTERY)
THIS MEANS I ASSUME, THAT SMALLER SCREEN MODEL
14.1-inch screen model? "SAYS SIMPLY REPLACE IT"
USES NORMAL COIN CELL. BUT THAT DOES NOT MATTER AT ALL
AS ETHER KIND ARE NO GOOD AT 15 YEARS OLD EVER.
ERROR CODE 0250? FROM BIOS IS COIN DEAD.
The cmos coin cell battery must be replaced, if this old.
the coin or the solder down model 15.4"
the PC must run on AC power, no HUGE battery instelled
and 15.4": model the coin is rechargeable and soldered down.
the manual tells you shop service needed for the 15.4" model
the 14" is easy fix. if handy with a screw driver.

here is the 14" solder down ML1220 battery
SD, n200 real., see the blue rim (bingo soldered down)

2035, 2032 can be bought from any super market or hardware store. Need to open the PC, locate the battery, which is normally clipped to the mother board. Use a small screw driver and lift out. If battery is soldered to the mother board then need to access under the board and de-solder carefully without damaging the tracks.

Y550 cmos battery

The CMOS battery on the Y550 is considered to be non-replaceable by Lenovo. It is soldered directly to the motherboard itself. You can check out this youtube video on the disassembly of the Y550. At the 14:22 minute mark on the video you can see where this battery is. At the top right of the video you will see a big green INTEL chip (upside down). To the right of the bottom of the Intel chip, you will see a round blue component. This is the battery.

If you were handy with a soldering iron, you could un-solder and replace this battery, but the average consumer would not be able to replace it. Lenovo will most likely require you to purchase a new motherboard.

Here is a better look at the battery from an ebay listing:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-LENOVO-IDEAPAD-Y550-INTEL-MOTHERBOARD-mPGA478MN-SOCKET-KIWB1-LA-4602P-/171885234728?hash=item2805288a28
In this picture the battery is the blue round button looking component to the left of the Intel chip.

I have a notebook of LENOVO Y580.I found problem that the notebook cannot connect two additional monitors at same time. the one connection to ASUS PA248Q with HDMI port, the second connection to PRINCETON...

The graphics card can only support two monitors at a time. One being the notebooks built-in display and the other being either the HDMI or VGA ports. You will have to attempt to disable the notebooks built-in display. Good luck.

How to reset bios password in linovo g560

Sadly, on this board, the CMOS battery is soldered in, not removable. Generally, removing the CMOS battery and waiting a few minutes ought to erase a bios password. Removal would take a trip to a service center. With tech skills, it is possible to erase the CMOS by creating a short. But I think you better forget that. However, if no password has been set, why not look up the procedure to make a password reset disk and try it? Technicians generally have master passwords for different BIOS. Your master password may be winbond. You probably could download and run Speccy to find out your BIOS, by the way.

There is a commercial Windows Reset Key sold for about $20 but I have not researched its validity. I hesitate to mention hacks as such might damage your machine. Bluntly, I don't know what has been done to this machine to get you to this point and don't know if you have tried system restore or made use of any recovery software on the machine. So, pardon the kitchen sink advice.

Computer it ll sound a contineous beep form the on board speaker and there is no display

It's some sort of hardware failure, system board is probably the most likely culprit. Could be major or minor.

A cmos reset could solve the problem if its a simple bios issue.

Either go to levono's support website and find out how to reset your cmos with the jumper, or you can call their support line.

Or if you are completely comfortable in opening your case without step by step instructions from a person or specific support page. You can open the case and simply remove the small battery, can't miss it, leave it out for a bout 30 seconds, replace it and put your rig back together and try to boot up.

If that doesn't work, the next least expensive thing you can try is to replace the battery.

Open the case again, and take the battery with you to the store and get a new one. If that doesn't work, then you'll defintely want to contact someone that knows more specifics with your model.

This should be a good place to start for more detailed troubleshooting steps.
