These cameras are pretty rare so your chances of finding a spare back are slim, I did a search and found nothing, only 2 new cameras on ebay for more than $1000. A new camera might be your next option. They are made by Fujifilm so thats where I would look next.

SOURCE: black plastic catch on door snapped off, need new part

Yes. That's the door latch.

You have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) that demonstrates how it's done.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: I have dropped my Rollei AFM35 and damaged the

Normally you'd have next to no chance: not many AFM35's were made and they mainly appealed to well-off, older, amateur photographers. As a result used ones are rarely for sale and parts donors are as rare as rocking horse droppings. If you do find a parts donor they've likely been dropped damaging the battery cover which as you have discovered is exactly where the camera tends to land.

On the plus side, the cover on this model is a round bayonet type fitting much like the type used on some film SLRs and sometimes on motor drive covers. I don't currently have an AFM35 in my collection but I do have a Canon Sureshot Classic 120 and the battery cover looks like it may well be a functional replacement for your damaged one. As a first point of call visit a camera repairer or a large used film camera outlet to try a few covers for size. if you're in the UK and in the London area then Mr.Cad in Croydon is hard to beat for odd parts like these. I'm confident that you'll find a cover which fits, but you may need to do a little surgery to transplant parts from the old cover to the new to get a functional cover.

Sureshot Classic 120's are fairly easy to find and go very cheaply (£15 or so on auction sites). If you see one in good condition then you've nothing to lose in trying it: even if the cover does not fit you'll discover that the camera originally cost about the same as the Rollei and does pretty much everything the Rollei does. The light metering is highly reliable and the spot metering is superb. I can honestly say that the 38-120mm zoom lens outperforms some of my Leica and Zeiss T* primes and in my opinion is the best lens ever fitted to any compact 35mm which I've owned.

I hope that you've found my suggestions to be of some use and ask only that you return the favour by rating my answer.

APS film chamber stuck shut. Door won't open when film chamber release button is pressed

Sorry to hear about this issue. If you have a change bag, I would put a few jewelers screwdrivers in it then put the camera in it. With the bag closed up I would attempt to forcibly open the back. With the camera in the bag there is not any chance to expose the film. After the film is removed wind it back into the cartridge. Now send it off for developing.

Good luck,
Cordially,

Confirm tht DX shows in LCD. If not then press and hold shift button then press ISO so "DX" appears.Open Camera Back. Insert film cartridge, pull film leader out to right and align with red index mark (inside film chamber on right). Make sure there is no slack in leader.Close camera back until lock release snaps closed. Fully depress shutter until film advances to first frame.
Confirm " 1" and film transport show in LCD. If Film is not loaded correctly, "ERR" show on LCD. Open cack and reload film.

Hi, I have a Rollei SLR with a dead light-meter, which I would like repaired. I'm in England, can you suggest anywhere? It's an SL35-M. Thanks!

Getting your meter repaired may be an issue. The SL-35M used a CdS light meter, which nobody really used after the 70's, and they contained toxic cadmium, which has been banned for use in most places, which means these metering cells are no longer manufactured for repair market. They were on the verge of being banned in late '05, so I'd assume by now they're long gone. If you shop around, you may be lucky enough to find some shop to have another Rollei they can scrounge a working meter out of - thats assuming the cell is even the issue (have you checked the battery?).

To venture a guess, I'd look online for shops, since most shops dealing with film cameras and their repair have closed their doors in the last 5-10 years with the propogation of digital. You may have better luck contacting Rollei directly, but who knows. Japan has a HUGE affinity for film and film cameras, so if you're able and willing to ship your camera around the world, and can find someone, that may also be a viable option, again you'll need to look online and try to contact a shop to see what they're able to handle.

Expect anywhere from $125-200US for a meter repair.

I need a new battericap

Normally you'd have next to no chance: not many AFM35's were made and they mainly appealed to well-off, older, amateur photographers. As a result used ones are rarely for sale and parts donors are as rare as **** ****. If you do find a parts donor they've likely been dropped damaging the battery cover which is exactly where the camera tends to land. On the plus side, the cover on this model is a round bayonet type fitting much like the type used on some film SLRs and sometimes on motor drive covers. I don't currently have an AFM35 in my collection but I do have a Canon Sureshot Classic 120 and the battery cover looks like it may well be a passable replacement for your damaged one. As a first point of call visit a camera repairer or a large used film camera outlet to try a few covers for size. If you're in the UK and in the London area then Mr.Cad in Croydon is hard to beat for odd parts like these. I'm confident that you'll find a cover which fits, but you may need to do a little surgery to transplant parts from the old cover to the new to get a fully functional cover. The only other fix is to get one custom made by an engineering hobbyist. They'll need either the original cap as a pattern or may be able to use the camera itself to work out what's needed. You can also be a bit more Heath Robinson and adapt a cover which doesn't really fit properly at all, but is held in place by a plate secured to the bottom of the camera using the tripod mounting thread. At the very least it will buy you time whilst you source a better alternative. Canon Sureshot Classic 120's are fairly easy to find and go very cheaply (£15 or so on auction sites). If you see one in good condition then you've nothing to lose in trying it: even if the cover does not fit you'll discover that the camera originally cost about the same as the Rollei and does pretty much everything the Rollei does but is a largely unrecognised gem. The light metering is highly reliable and the spot metering is superb. I can honestly say that the 38-120mm zoom lens outperforms some of my Leica and Zeiss T* primes and in my opinion is one of the best lenses ever fitted to any compact 35mm which I've owned. The only downside is that it's autofocus only. I hope that you've found my suggestions to be of some use and ask only that you return the favour by rating my answer.

Pull up on the rewind knob ( left side ) to open the film door. put film cassette in chamber then lower rewind knob and pull enough film leader to the take up spool. attach film to spool. close the film door then advance the film to #1 on the counter.
