SOURCE: rear bearing noise when drum rotates

If the rear bearing is bad it will require the replacement of the entire rear tub shell. This is because the bearing is molded into the plastic and cannot be replaced separately (I know, its a stupid design). Sometimes additional damage can occur and the inner spin basket and front shell may also need replaced. In addition, what may seem like a bad rear bearing, might be a broken tub support on the spin basket. In a nutshell, you may have to replace both tub shells and spin basket at a minimum. With parts and labor the repairs could cost $600-$800. If you have no extended warranty or service plan coverage, it may not be worth the effort to repair due to the excessive cost. Sorry...I wish I had better news for you. I hopes this provides you with some answers.

SOURCE: dryer drum causing squeak

Most likely the front support bearing. If this is the problem you will likely have to replace the slides too. The wizards have a ten year warranty. The bearing is part number WE3M26 and the slides probably need 3 or 4 of them are we1m333. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: How do I remove the drum??

From the diagram at:
http://genet.geappliances.com/IPCNet/Dispatcher?REQUEST=IPCNETGETPDF&file=00000000/00013300/00013301.p03.pdf

It appears that you get access to the drum by removing the front panel.

Roper dryer back of drum off track & making a thumping sound. How to put the rear dryer track & foam spacer back on track please?

Question edited for clarity.
Two questions made into one.
Duplicate deleted. Refresh page to see your question.

Thumping is normally can by two reasons

1. Worn rear bearing which normally has a nylon sleeve that wears causing vertical movement

2. Worn or collapsed drum slides or rollers at the front of the drum.

There is not normally foam, the sealer is felt and needs lightly oiling.

No model number given, Google Roper parts diagram

Mod # DPSR473EWOWW There does not seem to be an actual bearing back here. But I do notice there seems to be a Teflon like sleeve that seems damaged and needs replacing. I would think that would take care...

that's it but when you order the part you get everything,if you look inside the drum you'll see three screws, you remove the screws and pull off the shaft and bracket assy. then you get the sleeve bearing and the rear retainer bearing and the strap arm and all new screws, part number WE25M40 and it's around 40 to 50 dollars..copy and paste http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOx-tLgq67Q

Constant squeaking when running model # DNSR473EWOWW

You will need to replace the rear drum bearing,a fairly common concern on these models. you should also inspect the front bearing surface the drum rides on for wear since replacement of the rear bearing requires removal of the drum anyway, when ordering the rear bearing kit make sure it comes with the special high temp grease that is used on the rear bearing. Good Luck

Can the rear drum bearing be lubricated. The bearing is making a squeaking noise

the rear part of the drum rides on 2 rollers at the lower portion of the drum and are made of nylon on nylon, you can try some light grease of teflon base, but more than likely you'll need to replace them in the future and when you get that far into the dryer to grease its just as easy to just put new ones in while you can get at them once and for all

I have a DPSR473GWOWW Profile gas dryer. It sounds as if the drum is off axis and is griding, or if some debris got inside. The drum is turning, but does not sound healthy.

If you remove the front panel, there is a plastic housing they call a bearing that the drum rides on. There are 4 slippery plastic pads (slides) mounted to the so called bearing. These will wear out and the drum will wear through the housing, or "bearing". It is a poor, cheap setup, but common. It also could be the rear bearing which is just a cheap nylon bushing. It can wear out and start grinding metal on metal. A repair kit is available for the rear bearing, and the "bearing" and slides for the front are available too. Chances are the felt pad on the duct portion that connects to the bearing is worn too. The prices add up on all this stuff. You may want to order a spare timer knob too, as they are not designed to last and crack and turn on the timer shaft making you think the timer is bad.

Dryer makes noise when turning like bearings going or belt squeek

Hi,
check the following -
It's noisy
If your dryer is noisy, check these:

Rollers
Idler pulley
Glides
Rear drum bearing
Blower wheel

Rollers
Many dryers use rollers or wheels to support the clothes drum. When these rollers are worn, they can be noisy. You should replace the whole set of rollers at the same time.

Idler pulley
Dryers have a tension or idler pulley that keeps tension on the main drive belt. When it's worn, it can be noisy. When that happens, don't lubricate it. Just replace it.

Glides
Many dryers use nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn, they can be noisy. When that happens, replace them.

Rear drum bearing
Some dryers support the clothes drum in the rear with a center spindle instead of rollers. The spindle may be a ball-and-socket type support or a shaft through a sleeve. When the components are worn, they may squeak, squeal, or rub. You can't repair them. Just replace them when they're worn.

Blower wheel
Your dryer's blower wheel pulls air over the heat source, through the clothes drum, and past the thermostats, then pushes it out the exhaust duct. The blower wheel, which is usually plastic, may wear out over time. But if it's noisy, it may simply be clogged with lint. Clean the blower and test to see if the dryer is still noisy. If it is, you probably need to replace it.

good luck.....

GE Profile dryer Model# DPSQ475ET4WW

You posted under a DPGT705EC and then a DPSQ475ET4WW, so I am going to guess you have the later one. If it has not been squeaking for an extended time you can get by with just changing the rear drum sleeve bearing (WE3X75). To do this, use a putty knife to push in on the 2 clips about two inches in from the sides at the seam where the front panel meet the dryer top, allowing top to swing up and back. Remove screw holding front panel to side panel near top just under where the top was. Tilt front panel forward and lift off bottom pegs. Swing to side (you don't have to remove wires). Pull drum forward about 6 inches. (you don't even have to remove the belt.) Change sleeve at center back of drum. Make sure to inspect the front drum support slides WE1M481dark ones and WE1M333 white ones (about 1/2 inch x 2.5 inch strips at the top of the front panel which support the front of the drum), as about the time the rear bearing goes, these may be wearing also, especially the one on the left side. You may have to contact GE to obtain an owner's manual (but there is nothing in them about how to service the dryer, just installation and settings, etc.) Parts can be obtained from just about any appliance service company or appliance retailer which does service in your area.

DCXR463GA2WW Squeak

YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE A REAR DRUM BEARING FAILING. IT IS A SMALL TEFLON BEARING THAT SLIPS ON OVER THE REAR SHAFT OF THE DRUM AND INTO THE HOLE IN THE REAR OF THE DRYER. THERE ARE ALSO FRONT GLIDES THAT SUPPORT THE FRONT OF THE DRYER. OLDER DRYERS HAVE THE FRONT SUPPORTS UNDER THE DRUM SO THE DRUM RESTS ON THEM. NEWER G.E. DRYERS HAVE A PLASTIC RING WITH THREE TEFLON GLIDES ON TOP OF THEM AND THE DRUM HANGS FROM THESE GLIDES. REPLACE ALL OR SOME OF THE ABOVE PARTS TO ELIMINATE YOUR SQUEAK.
ON OTHER POSSIBILITY, THE IDLER PULLEY THAT KEEPS TENSION ON THE BELT CAN BECOME A SQUEAK MAKER.
