SOURCE: LAWN MOWER WILL NOT START

The compression relief valve is not working. Pushing the engine past top dead center and turning the key works after a fashion. Keep the battery fully charged. This is a design/engineering fault in B&S engines which they cannot fix. It is in all of their engines. Most do not malfunction but those that do, do it all the time. I have had the compression relief valve replaced and the valve settings set to allow the valve to function (it uses the exhaust valve by holding it partially open while starting) but it still does not work properly.

Skip the below portion if you don't want to hear a negative view of B&S engines.

The engine problem resolved itself today (12-10-10) when it threw its rod into the cylinder wall. B&S engines power a huge number of the riding mowers in the US. It is difficult to escape them when buying a mower. Use it on more than a postage stamp yard and B&S will claim you abused it.

SOURCE: eXmark mower blows fuse when deck is engaged.

try checking the wires from the switch that engages the mower deck. if there is a wire grounding out sumplace when you kick it on it will keep popping the fuse no matter what. id say its a short.

SOURCE: I have a troy bilt riding mower blades will not engage in the 1 or 2 deck setting

There is a spring attached to a tensioner that probably came unhooked while changing the belt. Higher deck settings push the deck backwards enough to spin the blades, the lower setting need the spring tensioner to take up the slack in the belt.

50IN TROY-BILT MUSTANG RZT ZERO TURN MOWER. I want to bypass the seat pressure switch?

Very dangerous unless you live in the middle of nowhere, have no children or pets. Just join the wires together, it is a simple switch. Easy to buy a new one.

How do I put my troy bilt mustang xp in neutral so I can push it manualy

On the rear of the engine deck you will see a wire that extends through a small hole. There is one on each side. Pull both out until you can hook the end on the side of the hole. This will allow you to push it freely by hand.

When I turn the key on to start my Troy-Bilt RZT 50 zero turn mower, there is nothing. No ignition light, nothing. I have a new battery and I put a new fuse unit but still nothing. Help!

Do you hear a clicking sound???NO ?? Do you have the speed ?turning handles in the extrem OUT position? Is the ground cable connected to the engine block?? Is the Red cable connected to the + Positive post on the battery?? Is the BLACK cable connected to the - Negetive post on the battery?? Why did you need to replace the fuse? Is the battery charged??

If none of the above corrects the problem replace the ignition switch

check the battery i.e. load test it they dont last long, most of 2 seasons, then if this is o.k. clean all terminals as any corrosion will cause this also and make sure all connections are tight,it doesn't hurt even if theres no corrosion to loosen and re-tighten all connections
