SOURCE: Sata Harddisk Not detected in Post operation

Hi vijjis,
Make sure your SATA drive is connected to SATA port 1 which is the bottom port. Double check both the data cable & power cable. The data cable only connects one way at the board & at the drive. Same for the power cable. Your SATA drive must be listed in the bios menu & you must list the SATA drive with-in the boot order. If your cabling is all correct & you still do not see the SATA drive in the bios menu than the onboard SATA controller is defective. This can not be repaired because it is integrated into the board. It will not hurt to clear the cmos. See page 15 in your manual. Your board can only run SATA 1.0 = 150MBs. If your Seagate is pinned for SATA II = 300MBs, change the jumper on the drive. (This may or may not work). See if the bios list the drive.
One other option, you can buy a PCI SATA controller.

SOURCE: can i install xp-sp3 without Sata driver on motherboard 'DG31PR'

You have a board with 4 SATA ports on it and a SATA HDD. The hardware detection routines will see this and load the SATA drivers. Why would you even want to try to set it up without them?

I have K8V-MX motherboard. I am planning to buy a 1TB SATA HDD Will this support ? Thanks! Madhusudan

Your model KV8-MX motherboard does not have a SATA controller.
To install a 1Tb SATA hard drive you need to install a PCI SATA controller and then connect the SATA hard drive to this controller board.

Connecting sata hdd on 845ge

Directly you can't, the chipset on that motherboard doesn't support SATA. You will have to buy a PCI SATA card and plug the disk in it.

I can't get Vista Ultimate set up to recognize my WD 1TB HDD in a new build. Is this a software problem or problem with the HDD. I get the short beep at BIOS start up so I don't think its with the...

Few steps to check your harddisk status on the motherboard would resolve this issue. Checkin to the cmos setup and look for the detection of the HDD and the size it shows once you have done a formating.

Vista 64 bit shows issues at times while installing a new SATA 1TB HDD. Check if the 1TB HDD is installed on to SATA 0.

Use a WD Disk Manager and format the HDD initially and then try install Vista on to it. Else if this doesnt work on the system, Put the HD on to another working system and Format it with NTFS File system and try installing Vista.. You will be successful. Good Luck.
