1, The toner cartridge error usually occurs when a non-Xerox certified toner cartridge is used. Restore the old toner cartridge with a new one, purchased from a trusted retailer.
2, Print a test report to check if the error rectifies. If not, connect your printer to computer over a network connection. Click the Start menu on the task bar of your computer.
3, Navigate to the Control Panel settings. Click the Devices and Printers option. Click the View Devices and Printers menu. The list of installed devices displays on the screen.
4, Open the Printers menu. Right-click the printer in which the printhead needs to be cleaned. Select the Properties tab from the drop-down menu. Click the Hardware or Maintenance tab and select the More Options or Tools from the drop-down menu.
5, Select the Cleaning option and choose Clean Heads or Clean Cartridges. Follow the on-screen prompts and complete the printhead cleaning process. Check if the issue resolves.

Hi, check out the forums on this model, but you will be frustrated.
This is usually an error when a non-Xerox certified toner cartridge is used. If you can, try to get an original Xerox toner cartridge and see if the error clears. If you know someone else who has a working cartridge you can use that, to see if the issue clears.

Okay, I had the same problem with my C3300. I phoned the people i purchased from and this is what fixed it for me:
looking directly at the printer:
-open printer
-remove drum in question (the drum is what houses the toner cartridge) in my printer it is black.
-look on the right side of the drum & there is a little (approx 5mm
x 5mm) hole that has a little panel that opens- push this up to open it.
-replace drum close the top and try printing.
I had to do this 2 times before it worked, but it worked.

I just fixed mine. You need part #604K47890 Gear Coupling Assembly Kit. Cheapest I found was $6.99 at www.sparepartswarehouse.com plus $13.95 s/h. Remove the waste cartridge & you can see the white plastic gear. I tried to disassemble the printer (using service manual) in order to replace this part. Good luck. It looks like you need to take the WHOLE thing apart. Easier method is to get a drill or dremel & grind away the thin metal to make the whole slightly larger. Just be careful with the dust/particles. I did this & it worked perfectly.

This
problem may happen randomly with any toner.
Open
the printer, the "missing toner" should be the one you see.
No
need to uninstall it.
On
the right side of the toner, above and to the right of the label, you will see
a small green board with three contacts on it.
Just
clean these contacts with a moderate cleaning solution (nail polish remover
will do).

940: Error
Waste Toner Transfer Error
The transfer mechanism of the
toner duct for ID is not operating
properly.
Check to confirm that the basket
assembly is in position (if it is
engaged with the gear of the
printer).
Check to confirm that the holder
magnet D contains a magnet,
and check the magnetic polarity.
Replace the HAL IC circuit
board.
Replace the duct assembly
toner.

Hi there
I not know your printer but I can say this that after refilling it your chip will still thing it emty so some where on the printer Menu there is a way to reset the it back to 0 so it starts like new again.
Sorry cant be any more use to you than this, try looking up the net or the manual to how to reset.
