I have a hotpoint ice diamond rfa51p and alot of water fills the fridge what causes this?

Freezer /fridge water/ice in fridge and or freezer

Usually due to CONDENSATION due to bad door seals or a plugged evaporator drain line? Can use a soft flexable tubing and very hot water to clean it out. Bad door seals usually need replacement, but u can use a blow dryer and something to pry it closer to the door wall while blowing hot air on to it. To create a seal, to test for bad door seals place a dollar bill in between the door and wall of fridge where it closes. Then slide out the dollar bill with door closed. It should offer some resistance and not be easy to pull out.
Most all fridges have a drain. Look inside your fridge for a "V" shaped channel with a small hole. This hole leads to a tube and a small pan which sits on top of your refrigerator's compressor. The defrost cycle causes water to run into the channel, down the tube, and then it generally evaporates with the heat of the hot condenser/compressor.
However, if that tube is clogged with food crumbs, particles , debris etc, you will have to clear it to get back to a normal mode of operation. A toothpick, pipecleaner, straw or a cotton bud can often do the trick.
Even a frost free freezer will still ice up at times in the areas away from the heated defrost area and the drain line can freeze. This icing causes the pipe work to the compressor to ice over or sweat and cause a puddle. Or if the drainage has frozen over, it will need to be de-iced. ( usually the line is under the freezer bottom plate covering. Towards the back of the unit) And there is another inside the fridge area also.
Give the freezer a good overnight defrost until it's totally clear of ice in addition to making sure the drain is clear to the pan at the back and then restart the freezer.

I have an iced diamond fridge freezer. Turned off unit to defrost freezer. When I turned back on freezer works but fridge never got cold again.

check t ensure that the fan inside the freezer is working properly if the fan is not working inside the freezer then your refridge willnot get cold also if you pull off the back panel inside the freezer you wil see the holes that the air pushes through to go into the fridge section make sure these holes are not blocked if they are your fridge will also not get cold hope this helps if you need a new fan motor for the freezer try marcone appliance uyou can find them online and they directly mail to your door

Fridge Icing Up

Sounds like you have a defrost Prob. Take back cover off. Turn defrost timer in to defrost mode you will feel a click. timer may be located in fridge. ceiling or back wall if not there check bottom of fridge. behind kick plate or in back bottom of fridge. by compressor. See if heating element gets hot if not check for 120 volts at heater and defrost thermostat ( Terminator ) if not check defrost timer if you do have 120 volts check for 120 volts at heater terminals if no voltage or weak voltage replace terminator if you do have good voltage replace heating element. When ice builds up the fridge. starts to get warm turn off for 24hrs turn back on fridge. will run OK till ice builds back up.

Fridge keeps freezing

Can't solve your problem, but just to report we have exactly the same issue, a huge block of ice forms on the upper rear panel. The compressor seems to be running 24h, not matter where the 'thermostat' is set.

I suspect that there was/are a faulty batch of thermostats. Or (since there is no metal cooling plate to bolt it to) that the T/Stat probe has somehow come adrift from its correct sensing area and is not correctly sensing the temperature inside the fridge.

If I get to the bottom of the problem, I will re-post here.

My hotpoint ff187e fridge is not cold, the freezer is working but getting a build up of ice which i have defrosted. tried turning off. when i open the fridge does not feel cold, not sure if the fan is...

we had same problem, apparently there is no such thing as a frost free fridge/freezer, you have to turn your appliance off for at least 3 days because the freezer has a build up of ice which stops the fridge from working, you must leave it switched off for this time otherwise it will just ice up again.

I don't know how to set the temperature setting on my Hotpoint RLAV21 fridge. The dial goes from 0 to 4. For fridges I have had in the past the higher the number the colder the fridge but I've got my...

You should have 2 dials one is the thermostat when you set it all the way one direction it will shut you refrigerator off. Turn it back to about the middle if there are no numbers. The other dial is the air damper between the freezer and the refrigerator. The fan circulates the air through refrigerator by this damper. If you open this open to much your food in the refrigeration section will freeze. Close it back to about 2 that will give you a colder freezer and should be about right for the refrigeration section.
