SOURCE: I want to connect my iPhone 3G to my home wireless

The security type on the router is WEP.
In this case you will need to use the key 1. that will be the network key for your wireless network.
Check just next to the wireless security tab , you will see wireless MAC filter. It must be disabled. If it is Enabled then disable it and save the settings.
When you try to connect using the WEP key 1 , do you get any error message ?
If you get any error then try $ sign and wep key1.

SOURCE: I am not able to connect my iphone to my home wifi

No, just like when you set up a wireless connection for the first time with a home network, you need to input the network key. As long as you have the key handy, it should work!! For example, when I connect my iPhone to home network, I see my network name "553c" and I "touch" that and it asks what kind of security it has (unless this has changed, my iPhone is 1st generation) so I pick WEP (you will pick WPA of course : ) )and then it prompts for the network key. Hope this helps!!

SOURCE: Re: IPhone doesn't connect with wifi automatically - password not recoginized HELP!!!

Yep, I had the same problem with my iPhone as well (32GB 3GS).
Had the signal NO problem for about a week then POOF it was gone. WTF?
Prowled the boards looking for a solution.
Tried resetting the phone, resetting the Wi-Fi, switching airplane mode on and off, forgetting the network, etc.

HERE'S YOUR SOLUTION :
Go unplug your wireless router's power cord.
Wait 30 seconds.
Plug it back in.

Your iPhone will reconnect, and you'll be back in business.

What Dvr can I buy to replace my SAMSUNG SDR B3300N recorder. I want to use the existing cameras. Thanks for your help.

Even if you choose to browse the selections on the Samsung site, check the specifications of the new DVR to ensure that it supports the same type of cameras and has the same number of channels as your current DVR. That information would most likely be in the hands of Samsung or the manufacturers of your cameras. I would check with their customer support. and/or a download of the user manual of the DVR of interest. Possibly someone at Best Buy might have access to compatibility information being a retailer of such.

Some of the other popular brands that offer security DVRs include Hikvision, ZOSI, and Dahua.

How to check the wireless settings on your Linksys router

Do you need to know the wireless settings configured in your Linksys wireless router? This tip will you do this, I will show you how this can be done.

First, why do we need to know the wireless setting of your router?

Here are a few reasons why we need to know all of these:

  • We need to know the wireless settings if we wan to add a computer to the wireless network that you already have.
  • If we want to add a wireless devices like, wireless gaming adapters for your gaming system like Xbox.
  • You will also need to know the wireless settings of your network if you want your mobiles phones and other gadgets (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad,etc.) to get online through your wireless network.
What are the things we need to verify off of your router setup page? Here they are:
  • SSID - Wireless Network Name
  • Channel
  • Type of Security
  • Security code or password if there is one enabled.
Here are the steps on how this can be done:

  1. In your computer that is connected to the router, open your browser and type or copy and paste this link to the address bar http://192.168.1.1then hit return.
  2. A login box will pop-up asking for a user name and password. Just leave the user name field blank and type admin in the password field.
    Note:
admin is the default password, if you can't login using the default password, you might have likely changed it during the initial configuration of your router.
  3. Once you are in the router Setup page, click on the tab at the top that says Wireless. In this page, you can get the following information.

    • Wireless Network Mode - This setting will allow you to choose if you want different types of wireless connection can be accepted by the router, you can choose B, G or Mixed. I recommend you leave it to Mixed.
    • Wireless Network Name / SSID - This is the field where you can put in the name you want for your network. The name you will set here will the name that your router will be broadcasting. By default your router uses the name "linksys". Imagine if the rest of your neighbors has the same brand of router.
    • Wireless Channel - This is the channel or frequency your router is operating on. This can be changed if you are having intermittent issues with your wireless network.
    • Wireless SSID Broadcast - This is one setting that is worth checking. If this is disabled, your router is still operating but the name of your network will be hidden. It's recommended to leave it enabled.

  4. Then click on the sub-tab under the Wireless tab that says Wireless Security. In this page, you will be able to verify the following information about your wireless network security.

    • Security Mode - By default this is set to Disabled. And these are the common security type used or enabled in a small office, home office netowrk.

    • WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) - If this is the type of security that is enabled in your router, you need to look for the "Default Transmit Key" or "Default Tx Key" this will tell you what key you need to use from the list of keys available. See image below for reference.

      beb23b5.jpg

    • WPA Personal (WI-FI Protected Access) - if this the security that you will see, you need to take note of the "WPA Shared Key" this is the password for your wireless netowrk. You can change this any time, and it should be a minimum of 8 characters. Note: If you change your password for the wireless, you wireless computer and other wireless devices that were able to connect fine prior to changing the password, may need to be reconfigured or reconnect and use the new password.

Linksys setup

That's because you have to enter the username and password in order to access/change the security features of this router. There are default login/password entries required for security access within the router, even when it's set back to original factory settings.

Check your user manual for the default login information.
