Check to see if there is an obstruction keeping it from moving. Use a lubricant spray to help the movement.

SOURCE: Blades will not engage

Lever that adjusts height does not make blades turn. You need to engage the blade lever and if you can not tell if the blades are turning then they probably aren't. check belt it could need replacement.

When you move the lever and engage the blades you are also engaging the belt that drives the blades and sits on top of the mowing deck. Chances are that belt either came off one or more rollers, or broke. The only way to check it out is to get down and look on the top of the mowing deck. Get back and let me know what you find.

SOURCE: blade engagement lever won't disengage

If this is a manual engagment system all the lever does is to pull a jockey wheel into the back of the belt to tention it thus starting the blades to turn, so either the cable is jammed that pulls the jockey wheel in, or the jockey wheel arm is seized and needs freeing off to allow the jockey to to move to the relaxed position.

I have a John deereL130, deck rusted so I got one from a JD L100 it has a manual pto lever to engage, but my L130 is electric pto.it mounted easily,do I need to add tensioners to deck for it to work

On the electric clutch method the belt from the engine pulley to the deck pulley is tight all the time, yes it normally has a idler pulley with a spring to keep it tight. The spring is needed so do not omit it and lock it solid or it will shake itself apart. Hopefully you can copy your L130 deck as well as use the idler and spring from it.

2000 craftman lawn tractor 917.270822 blades will not engage

If your blades won't engage when you raise the lever to engage them AND that lever moves freely without the normally expected resistance, then you've lost the cotter pin that connects the lever rod to the mower deck assembly. Very easy fix! Using the mower deck raise/lower lever, lower the mower deck to "down" position. Now, lay on your side along the right side of the mower and look up (use a flashlight) under the mower at the top of the mower deck while moving the blade engagement lever "up" (which pushes the connected rod down). At the end of the rod, you will see a hole where the mower deck and rod connect. Align the hole at the end of the rod with the matching "pin" on the mower deck (you'll see it) and insert a new cotter pin to secure them together. Use a nail if you don't have a cotter pin. Voila! you are done. The blade engagement lever will now engage/disengage your mower blades successfully. Just remember that mower deck must be down, or lowered, before you engage the blades!
