DOESN'T DETECT WIFI

The wireless feature on a Gateway computer allows you to connect to a network without the hassle of cables. This allows you to browse the Internet conveniently wherever you are. Gateway computers rely on Windows operating systems, which come with a built-in feature to manage your wireless connection. This feature makes turning off your wireless connection an easy process if, for a moment, you prefer to connect to the Internet using a wired connection.

Click the Windows "Start" menu and click the "Control Panel." Click Network and Internet Connections > Network Connection, if you are using a Windows XP Gateway computer. You should see your wireless connection. For Windows Vista and 7 Gateway computers, click "Network and Sharing Center" from the Control Panel and click "Manage Wireless Connections." You should see your wireless connection. Right-click your wireless connection and click "Disable" to turn it off. Close "Network Connections" when you are done.

How to setup VPN on a D-link Router.

Ok to Setup you VPN follow the instructions below. You can configure DI-804HV, DI-808HV, and DI-824VUP+ by web management interface. Type 192.168.0.1 (The LAN IP is 192.168.0.1 by default) in the browser, and then input user name: admin (there is no password by default) to pass authentication of web management interface. Then finish the configurations as showed below on Gateway A and Gateway B. Configurations of Gateway A 􀂾 Model: DI-804HV (DI-808HV, or DI-824VUP+) 􀂾 Firmware version: v1.40 (You can download the latest firmware on D-Link’s website.) 􀂾 WAN IP Address: 14.15.16.17 (Static IP) 􀂾 LAN IP Address: 10.5.6.1 (Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0) 􀂾 VPN Configurations: 􀂄 Enable VPN function on Gateway A. 􀂄 Tunnel Name: toGatewayB 􀂄 VPN Method: IKE (Main mode) 􀂄 Local Subnet: 10.5.6.0 􀂄 Local Netmask: 255.255.255.0 􀂄 Remote Subnet: 172.23.9.0 􀂄 Remote Netmask: 255.255.255.0 􀂄 Remote Gateway: 22.23.24.25 􀂄 Pre-share Key: hr5xb8416aa9r6 􀂄 IKE Proposal (Please remember to add the correct proposal ID into the list of IKE Proposal Index when you finish inputting the following information.) 􀀹 Proposal Name: toGatewayB 􀀹 DH Group: Group 2 􀀹 Encryption Algorithm: 3DES 􀀹 Authentication Algorithm: SHA1 􀀹 Life Time: 28800 􀀹 Life Time Unit: Second 􀂄 IPSec Proposal (Please remember to add the correct proposal ID into the list of IKE Proposal Index when you finish inputting the following information.) 􀀹 Proposal Name: toGatewayB 􀀹 DH Group: Group 2 􀀹 Encapsulation Protocol: ESP 􀀹 Encryption Algorithm: 3DES 􀀹 Authentication Algorithm: SHA1 􀀹 Life Time: 3600 􀀹 Life Time Unit: Second 4. Verify the VPN connection Before you start to establish VPN connection between Gateway A and Gateway B, please make sure the Internet connection between Gateway A and Gateway B is workable. You can use “Ping Test” tool on Gateway A (or Gateway B), and input the IP address of Gateway B (or Gateway A) to see if there is any response from its peer device. Connect a PC (called PC_A) to the LAN port of Gateway A, and connect another PC (called PC_B) to the LAN port of Gateway B. Start to “Ping” PC_B on PC_A, then Gateway A will start to establish IPSec connection with Gateway B. If you can get “Ping” responses from PC_B on PC_A, then it means the tunnel has been established successfully. You can also check the “VPN Status” page with web management interface to verify the status of VPN connections. Figure 1: VPN status of Gateway A after IPSec connection has been established. Figure 2: VPN status of Gateway B after IPSec connection has been established.
Hope this helps

Cannot connect to web.

Follow this steps
1. Connect the provided power adapter from the gateway's POWER port to an electrical outlet. The POWER light on the front of the gateway should be green. 2. Connect the provided gray phone cable from the gateway's PHONE LINE port to the DSL filter jack labeled DSL/HPNA. 3. Connect the yellow Ethernet cable provided with the gateway from the LOCAL ETHERNET port on the gateway to your computer's Ethernet port
With your computer completely started, verify the POWER and ETHERNET indicator lights on the front of the 2Wire gateway are green. If they are not, see "Understanding the Indicator Lights" on page 15. The INTERNET indicator light will not turn green until the gateway software has been installed and an Internet connection has been established.

Gateway not pinging from dwl 3200 ap . AP=192.168.4.250/24 in the same subnet, gateway=192.168.4.1 , gateway assign also on wireless adapter , wireless adapter address also in the same subnet with right...

Remove the cables from the gateway router to the switch to leave only the uplink cable or connection to your telephone socket.
Test connectivity by plugging your laptop or computer directly in to the gateway router and test web access using an Ethernet cable.
Your laptop /computer may need to be rebooted for new ip. If ok reattach the unmanaged switch a retry by attaching the Ethernet cable to one of the ports on the switch. If ok, this limits the problem to the access point.
The main problem is that you have two layer 3 devices connected together by a layer 2 switch.
The solution would be to retain the configuration on the gateway if all ok. Change the access point to a different sub net and SSID to the gateway router.
If you can shut down the broadcasting from the gateway as all WLAN will be done through the access point.
Ensure that DHCP and DNS is switched on, on the gateway router.
All computers should be configured to use the gateway router address as this will allow the gateway to provide routing across the network.

Says dsl has no connection, but yet on network it says connected. red light flashing on gateway unit

Your computer sees its connection to the gateway - that's your "connected" - without being connected to the internet. First check that all cables are securely plugged in, especially the cable from the phone jack to the gateway device. You may need to cycle power on the gateway device to restore the DSL connection, and you may need to reboot the computer afterward to reconnect to the Internet (depending on your OS).

My wireless laptop gateway won't connect to my router again after going out of town using it at hotel and now it wont connect at home. it will connect on my job with no problem

Hi!

It is possible that the wifi networking where you connect in the Hotel use the same name of you home wifi network!

Try deleting your wifi profiles and reconnect again.

If you don't know how to delete the wifi profiles let me know and I tell you.

Thanks!

You need to have a cable going from the modem to the gateway, and then another wire going from the gateway to the computer.
