I get no sound from the left channel from my Harman Kardon AVR 25II receiver no matter what input I use and same goes for the headphones output -no sound from the left side. I tried to both speaker outputs same problem. When I take out the bridges from the back and connect my Focusrite audio interface the receiver sounds perfect so the power amp is good so are the fuses. Looks like there is no sound coming out from the pre amp. Any ideas what could this be?
Sounds like the left channel has blown in your AVR 25II. If it was a faulty headphone jack it simply wouldn't send an output signal to the speakers.
Testimonial: "how do you define blown, the output transformers are not blown the power amp is good"
Ok so it works with audio interface connected, but when the bridges are installed you lose the left channel. I don't know what to suggest - either the bridges are causing the fault or the pre amp...
I replaced the bridges with standard AV cables ..same result, there is no signal coming out of the left channel output of the pre amp
... do you know how to diagnose the preamp?, I'm hearing it could be a cold connection but I doubt it as it sounds very quietly .. whisper level. another problem could be a blow Integrated circuit
not sure how to confirm that
it might be worth cracking it open and looking at all the soldered joints. I've run into problems with car instrument panels that had no gauge functions and it was from bad joins.

SOURCE: VERY LOW SUB OUTPUT
does the volume change with the variable resistor knob when you turn up or down? If you open you may see burnt resistors in that area.
SOURCE: subwoofer connection
if this is ao powered sub, that plugs into the wall, there should be no problems, if it is powered solely by the reciever it may work fine but be sure you dont exceed amperage on the subwoofer.
SOURCE: Harman Kardon AVR 40 no sound
Check the fuses - there may be one inside the box as well. May also be a bad transformer. You can get a multi-meter at Home Depot and lookup how to check the power at the transformer.

You have it upon one of several truly odd "standards" in the AV industry but the answer is simple if not quite logical. You will use an RCA type cable from the Sub out or LFE on the receiver to just one of the two inputs on the subwoofer. I usually use the one on the right but it really doesn't matter. The other connectors would be for a system with out a sub out where the speaker wire would be run first to the subwoofer and then out to the speakers. This will not be used at all in your case.
