if the fans are dead, make sure the power pack works.
(that is the cheapest part if bad, in most cases) even $8 cheap
these PCs have high failure rate for dead.
take it to a shop, with CC in hand.
in the shop they strip it down, first, to see if modules inside are shorted. (shorts overload VRM or the power pack)
then test power as it enters the PC with a voltmeter.!
remove HDD, see if power comes on? NOW.
all ram by 1 stick, 1 by one, tested, 1 only at 1 time.
SOP , a standard set of tests on all things like this (computers)
if that sounds hard, then get if repair in a real shop.
The fan must spin up, at power on. if not no power there.
Gateway zx6971 go to gateway homepage for the manual and see if it shows how to rest it through a series of key boot sequences, check the front lights for battery, side by the adapter for power light and front light for the hdd. If none of these turn on your motherboard needs repair. first take a multimeter and check the plug end for 19v d/c. no power light at plug in side of computer means blown power supply on motherboard.

Is the Gateway DX4300 having problems while installing the drivers after sleep mode
or does it have these problems during the laptop is turned on.
Always make sure you download the right drivers for your system.
If you installed Windows Vista after you had formatted the system and now your trying
to install them you might want to go on another system and download all of the drivers either on an external hard drive or an SD card so everything can be accessible.
After you install Windows Vista or 7 make sure that the compatibility mode is selected while installing the drivers.
Most of Gateway drivers are Windows XP so you have to go and right click on each and every driver and change the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2 that way when you let it install then Windows Update will activate to perform updates for hardware drivers and software applications. It will also get the KB updates for your computer.
This will probably fix the sleep mode and improve it too.
1. Go on Gateway's site
2. Download the DX4300-11 drivers and make sure its directly from
Gateway on a SD card or external hard drive.
3. Change the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2
and let it run as administrator.
Each driver will then install and then you will fully use
your computer's capability.
After the drivers are installed then change your power options
as it will continue to install your drivers.
Check to make sure that your battery is fully charged and is plugged in
if it is. If not plug in for charging the battery.
If all fails then you will need to replace the motherboard.

either way hdmi will be the easiest otherwise u have to buy a new cable for vga and go hdmi on tv
Even a refurbished computer from Kmart has a 90 day warranty. I do not think I would bother fighting with issues; I would take it back and exchange it. Anything you do at this point is likely to cost you money to repair.
