I assume the water heater and water inside it is cold (otherwise you would not be lighting it). You light the pilot. The main burner comes on and the pilot lights it. The main burner should stay on until the tank is hot, When the tank gets hot the main burner should shut off but the pilot stay on. If you draw hot water, cold water will run in and cool the tank. If yu do nothing the tank will eventually just cools off. then the main burner should come back on to reheat the tank.
Copy following link for possible troubleshoot resources: http://waterheatertimer.org/Atwood-water-heater-resources.html Might want to call service technician instead of messing with gas appliance. Or sent to service center. Install 20 gallon under counter electric water heater and connect to 120Volt... 1500 watt element will heat water pretty quickly. To have more hot available, turn up water heater thermostat, then that will give 2 showers because more cold will be added to very hot water, thereby stretching amount of available hot.. http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-install-under-counter-water-heater.html Add a comment as needed
There should be a trouble shoot guide on the hot water tank. I have had to do this many times. You just need to read the trouble shooting guide & be very careful. I hope this works for you. D :)
This is a great unit! Try turning the flow nob to the half way point and the flame all the way to low. Run the hot water tap and slowly turn the flame dial until you hear the unit try to light. Every house is different regarding the restrictions in the plumbing and water pressure. Once the unit tries to light that is your minimum setting. It is best to leave it there.
Hi - hope someone can help. I have a VOKERA EXCEL 80SP combi boiler and been without hot water/central heating for two days. The pilot light is on, the fan is on, but boiler not triggering once the hot water tap is turned on.
Hopefully someone come to look at it today but hoping for some advice. Anyone else had this problem?
Thank you.
First do the simplest thing and check to make sure the pilot light is working on your water heater. There should be instructions posted on your unit of how to check and also how to light it if it has gone out.
