SOURCE: Loosing tranny oil between crankcase and bell
Assuming that it is tranny fluid, and not engine oil, there is only one seal, and your torque converter goes into it. Anyway, what you're in for is pulling the tranny, no matter what. Then it's pretty simple to pull the torque converter out, and change the seal. You want to make sure it's done right, though. That's an expensive transmission.
SOURCE: steps required to remove the standard transmission
Make sure you have removed all the bolts ....you will have to pry hard to remove it out .....be careful not to crack the bell housing ..Pry around the bell housing .good luck
SOURCE: transmission replacement: new transmission not
make SURE the converter is seated into the trans all the way,and that the alignment dowels are not doubled up.(that is ,if one stayed in the block from the old tranny and there is also one in the new tranny in the same spot)
