It seams to me that there is a engineering problem or a manufacturing problem with the prism block. The blue haze problem seams to be common.
I asked Sony for a replacement on warranty. They told me that the warranty for this specific part is valid for one year only, besides the fact the hole product is 3 year guaranteed.
Sony offered me a discount of about 40% in this part.
I think its too expensive anyway. I am dealing with Sony to buy a new projector with discount. Buying a used projector may be a alternate solution.
In any moment Sony assumed there is a problem with the part, what I think is a shame.
I will let you know the result of my complaint to Sony.
Its your blue polarizer going bad. This happens over time due to the excessive heat generated in the projector. The main problem is that your projector has organic LCD panels that degrade over time and in turn degrades your blue polarizer. The same thing happened to my sanyo Z2. It took 5 years for it to show on my Sanyo because I only use the projector for sports and movies. not daily tv watching. In any case, it isnt worth it to spend the money ti fix it...jut put tat towrds a new projector. The latest crop of LCD projectors almost all use in-organic LCD panels that last much longer. Hope this helps.

I also have the same problem -- the fix is to replace the optical block ( Internal lamp engine ) which is a $1,100 part. I just purchased a used projector for half the price of the part.
