I don't think you can as far as I'm aware the camera downloads to both cards or one card. I don't think there is the function to fill one card then move over to the second card.

In the menu, the third setting is "shoot w/o card" set this to "off" and you will not have this problem even if you forget to insert a card

I've encountered this problem with a 5D Mark II and the problem was the card. Our card was a 16GB Sandisk Extreme that was just as new as the camera. Make sure your camera's firmware is up to date. If your card is high in GB your camera will have a hard time poring with it if the firmware is old. But as we figured out, our card was bad, plain and simple.

Reset 5d to factory

1. Open the Canon 5D Mark II's menu system by clicking the "Menu" button on the back of the camera.
2. Scroll to the seventh menu at the top, indicated by a wrench icon with three small dots next to it.
3. Choose the "Clear settings" command.
4. Choose "Clear all camera settings."
5. Confirm clear all the camera's settings.

5d mark II working without memory card ,but with memory card no working, how to resolve this problem

I have seen this problem some times. Usually it comes from a fail at the CF PCB (compact flash printed circuit bard) and it is necessary to change the board. Sometimes the problem is the "bent pin syndrome" that frecuently occurs by using cheap Flash Cards.

Follow the correct instructions below based on the diagram to change the language of Canon EOS 5D Mark II from Japanese to English;

1.Press the MENU button.Different tabs are displayed on top of the screen as shown below.

2.Turn the Main Dial to select the tinualbinale_33.png Setup Tab ( The one with two dots and a spanner) on top of the screen.
3.Under this tab Turn the Quick Control Dial to select [Language] ( the third item from the top ) and press the SET button.

4.To select the desired language use Main Dial or Quick Control Dial (The current setting is indicated in Blue) and Press the SET button.
5.The desired language is set.
