If it trips the RCD then you have an electrical fault. Washing machine can do this once they are a bit old, or if they have had a water leak. The water gets into the electrical equipment and causes a fault that trips the RCD. If you have a circuit without an RCD try that. If it still trips, then the fault is serious and you will need to get it repaired. You can also try putting the washing machine into a warm place for a few days to see if it will dry everything out. Sometimes this will cure a fault if it is due to dampness.
Ive disconnected motor and still trips ,thinking one of the components any ideas ? Thanks in advance
Try removing all other equipment plugged into that circuit. RCD normally trip at 30 ma. Sometime you will have 2 appliances both with slight leakage and with both plugged in, the RCD will trip. Refrigerators are as bad as washing machines for this problem. The best bet is to warm it up as the circuit board may be damp.

Hi,
RCD trips is due to leaky connection of either LIVE or NEUTRAL wire to the EARTH wire. Please check the condition of power cable, check the electric motor, it maybe wet, it can be determine by using Ohmmeter, the reading should be more than 2 Mega ohms between LIVE and EARTH wire, and NEUTRAL and EARTH wire. The cable must be unplug before taking this measurement.
You may try use hot air such as hot hair blower, to dry the electrical motor if found wet.
Be careful when doing job with electricity, if in doubt call professional electrician to check it for you.
Regard's,
Darial Jr.

just possibly
take the kick panel off. On some smeg, there is a small suppressor capacitor on the lhs tucked in the wiring. this breaks down. snip it off - no need to replace

This might be Lid cover open protection. There is a small magnet at the edge of the lid cover, housed in some sort of a catch.
If the plastic housing cracked, the magnet might have dropped into the washing drum. To overcome this, place a magnet on the position where the plastic catch will contact the washer when the lid is close.

Hiya drodger, i had the same problem with my hotpoint dryer, (same company) if this is a condenser dryer make sure the drawer is collecting the water there is a small hole at the bottom of the drawer if you have a straw poke it in and clean it out, also at the back of the dryer there is a clear plastic pipe and a black one take them both off and clean them, your problem is exactly the same as mine so you will probably have to buy a new heating element (they are a lot cheaper from ebay) they are so easy to fit just 2 clips (i did it and im not dead yet!) hopefully you will then find the dryer will work perfectly, word of advice though clean the collecting drawer out at least once a month.
Hope this helps
SOURCE: Neff U1410 main oven trips the main RCD. Occurs
I have a u1421 with the same problem! I notice the fan doesnt run too well, sometimes it doesnt run at all, needs a prod to get it running. I suspect with no fan, that the element gets far too hot, and then starts to leak to earth, tripping the RCD. I'm gonna try buying a new fan motor - you should ckeck if your fan is running full speed OK.
