I discovered that I actually had TWO display adapters, so I uninstalled both of them, per your suggestion, and then rebooted my laptop and the correct Display Adapter was reinstalled and the correct colours reappeared, at long last! If you have the product key and bought the Office 2007 software, it should show up on your purchase history on Microsoft's Purchase History
You will need your Passport log in id and password to see it - click on the download link to download the software again and use your key to register and activate.
Alternatively, download the trial version from Cnet, install and use your Product key to register when you install or after you install.
