SOURCE: illinois pocket watch stem removal.

First you must say what type as there are differences depending on the mfg and model.Be the following basics apply.
1- Put the stem in the setting position (usually pulled out if stem set).
2 Them open cover to expose the movement. ( Screw off or snap open).
3- Remove the movement (Usually held in place with 2 screws at the outer edge.
4-Then if there is a screw in the part that holds the stem loosen that.
5- The stem can be held with a pair of pliers on the flat and the crown unscrewed. Be careful not to damage the square (FLATS), with the pliers. A rag or other safety measure should be taken.
6- then inside the stem hole, looking from the ouside the is an annular area around the stem that has a ferrule screwed into the case this has to be unscrewed and will bring out the stem and the ferrule.
This siounds complicated but the steps are more involved to write than they are to perform.
There are many variations to this process, and each type should be understood before proceeding.

SOURCE: how to remove stem on timex indiglo WR 30M ?

Insane as it seems, apparently the Indiglo wr30m watch stem does NOT have either a set screw or a release button. No vice needed though, just good fingernails. Pull it out one click to the 'set time' position and pull it out some more and it comes out.

How to set time day date on my timex indiglo cr2016 watch

To set the time and date on your Timex Indiglo watch with a CR2016 battery, follow these steps:
  1. Press and hold the stem (the button on the side of the watch) until the display begins to flash.
  2. Use the stem to cycle through the different settings: time, day, date, and year.
  3. When you reach the setting you want to change, use the stem to adjust the value.
  4. Once you have set the time, day, date, and year to the correct values, press the stem to exit the setting mode.
If you have trouble setting the time and date on your watch, you may want to consult the manual that came with the watch for more detailed instructions. If you do not have the manual, you may be able to find a copy online or you can try contacting Timex customer service for assistance.

Hello, I just bought a Timex Acqua with Indiglo

Depending on when you bought your Timex, you shouldn"t need a battery just yet, your Timex came with a good battery. Look under the stem (winder) for a small piece of plastic that is not allowing the stem to go all the way down, remove that piece of plastic and push the stem down and your Timex will start. Or if your Timex has buttons, look for a tab of plastic on the back cover, this tab of plastic is keeping the battery from (ground) a complete circuit remove this tab of plastic to start your Timex. Changeing the battery while fairly easy, you"d need jewelers screwdrivers and of course the new battery, Best Bet, look for a small watch repair shop in your area for the battery change.

mcdevito75 here, A brand new Timex quartz watch will come with a small piece of plastic just under the crown to keep the battery form working the watch, simply remove this small piece of plastic from under the stem (winder) push the stem in and your Timex will work. If your timex is push button you may have to hold down the Mode 2--3 seconds to see display.

Manual for Timex Reef Gear H2Y023

I have a Timex Reef Gear watch...can't find a model number anywhere. (The watch back has the 3 digit code 940, one they don't list on the Timex site).

My watch has two stems to adjust the time, day, date, etc. On mine, you turn the top stem until what you want to adjust appears in the digital window, then you pull out the stem one click to adjust.
