SOURCE: Westinghouse LVM-37w1 Goes immediately into standby mode

Power suplly. In my case I should have done research on a lot of things before purchase - westinghouse doe snot acknowled any power supplly uissue but they would say that, and this is a direct quote from them, "Westinghouse's failure rate is less than 2%, which is great by industry standards. Unfortunately, when you sell millions of televisions, 2% is still a lot of televisions. There have been no recalls on this model (or any of our models), but it's not surprising to find a similiar issue on more than one of millions of televisions."

In other words they calim there is nothing that is really their fault. However the first thing the repair guy said before he even looked at it was "Power supply". He opened it up and tested - power suplly. However to complicate matters more I made is huge mistake of buying into a scam offered by eCost via Service.net . A two year, 100%, in home service, warranty. Bottom line is since June 8 my Monitors has not worked and sine July 7 it has been sitting untouched, not here, but at a rprair facily over 50 miles away. As of yesterday August 7, I was told Westinghouse no longer makes or provides power supplies for this unit. On top of that the repair facility will not return it to me unless i pick it up why? Because it can't be fixed and because service.net will not pay them to return it to me.

So solution at thi point for anyone with power supply issues is to try and repiar it yourself. And then in the future never purchase anything from westinghouse again. (And if offered any sort of 100% all cost covere din home warrabnty from service.net run away screaming)

SOURCE: Insignia 37" goes into standby mode

I am experimenting with Insignia's and there is a feature whereby if a signal is not detected the TV will switch to standby mode (in about 10 - 15 minutes). It's documented as a tiny "note" in the manual under "Understanding the basics - Turning TV on or off"

I don't know if the TV resumes when the signal is restored or if you need to power on manually.

You are probably experiencing a glitch with the signal or the TV thinking the signal is not there. Are you watching a clear picture when this happens? I would first check to see if the signal is too weak (like using a signal booster). If that is not the case, it's probably the TV acting up.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: The DVR would not power up. I replaced c17,c19

Usually when replacing capacitors in a switchmode power supply, it is recommended that ALL the caps be changed in one go, rather than just replacing a couple (it is possible that the PSU is not fully functional since you only changed a couple of caps, therefore putting stress on other components such as diodes etc. hence why it won't stay on for longer than 5 seconds).

I suggest that you go with the easiest (and cheapest) option first - replace ALL the electrolytic capacitors in the PSU, this may totally solve your power standby problem - and the unit should remain on and function properly.

I also suggest replacing the 3 caps you already changed (C17 C19 C23) with fresh ones along with every electrolytic in the PSU - see if the unit remains on after that. If the unit still goes back to standby or shuts off, then check all of the other components (including any IC regulators and diodes). in the same circuit.

Where some electrolytics have strange values, replace with increased capacitance value and/or working voltage of each as required (note the value/voltage etc., of each of the original caps before you change them).

The good news here is if you do the above suggestion, and it works out well, all it will cost you is a bunch of capacitors and/or other parts as needed. No workshop charges if you do the repair yourself.

Fingers crossed that all you need is the abovementioned caps; but you need more than 3 to complete the job.

SOURCE: dell monitor goes into power save mode immediately

When it have this kind of error is a problem of the powerboard.
Anyway you must open it and look at the all capacitors and if are them inflated, if them are inflated must change them.

But can be a problem with inverters... control the transistors - MOSFET on the powerboard.

Good luck!

I have a tajima TFMX-II C1506 and it wont turn on

Hi,

Please switch to another mode - maybe power save mode before the machine has a chance to reach the point where it goes into sleep mode. Forcing the machine into another mode, should mean that it can't go into sleep mode.

Thank you.

Tajima TFMX-C1501 was stitching, when it made a color change, it stopped. Now the machine is locked up and I can not get it to run. Encoder sensor, locked. My main shaft timing belt is out of time?

Sounds like a timing issue to me too. Check a dealer for the proper timing or better yet get it serviced. Sewing machines can be very complex and are beyond the mechanical ability of most people.

Try this, but you'll lose any presets and setups.

To reset the AV receiver to its factory defaults, turn
it on and, while holding down the [VIDEO 1] button,
press the [STANDBY/ON] button. “Clear” will
appear on the display and the AV receiver will enter
Standby mode.

No Picture, Sound Fine

Hey John, How many times does the light blink? No blinks - Problem in the standby power section. Might check fuse, R607, Q601, IC601, R612 and VDR601 (should show open). Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective. One blink - not used for the self-diagnosis Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits. Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672. Four blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505 Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the Cboard, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly. Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206. Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits. Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401, and 402. On some newer models of Sony TV sets, this code means that T8005 is defective on the D board. Nine blinks - Replace D 6116 and D 6301 on the "G" board, do not resolder as this will fix the problem temporary. Or Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing, then change the switching regulator on the "G" board or check connections. Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive). Ten blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board. I suggest you do a hard reset. Unplug the power cord for 4 hours. Then plug it back in and check it. If it works, great. It not, cost of repair for this is usually around $150 - $250 plus the house call.
