Removing a water filter from the base grill of your Amana brand refrigerator:

Removing and replacing a water filter - base grill location

Filters situated in the base grill (below the freezer compartment) of Whirlpool-built side-by-side refrigerators are relatively simple to replace. Follow these two steps:

  1. Grasp the filter's end and make a one-quarter turn to the left.
  2. Pull the filter straight out.
To replace with a new filter, repeat these two steps in the opposite order, making sure to first remove the red cap from the filter. Proceed by pushing the filter straight into the slot, and then giving it a one quarter turn to the right.
Note: Replacing this type of filter is quick - there is no need to unplug your refrigerator when replacing it. Also, this filter should be replaced every six months.

Intermittent water flow and blinking lights

the water filter should be changed at least every 6 mos. when the filter is dirty it will not allow the water to flow at full force because it is restricted. change the filter and I think that will be the answer.

Amana BR18V1S is running but fridge temperature is low (slightly cool) Checked everything, cleaned coils (very dirty) Freezer OK.

Check and see if the freezer coils are blocked with ice. If not you may have a refrigerant problem as you stated the coils were dirty. The new refrigerants when hot tend to clog the capillary tube which feeds the refrigerant to the evaporator (freezer coils)

We never received a manual and now need to replace the water filter. model no. ASD2522WRW03 - ser. no. S01831393. also how do we order a replacement manual

The direct link to the manual from Amana is http://www.kitchenaid.ca/assets/pdfs/literature/User%20Instructions%20-%20W10237701A.pdf . If the direct link doesn't work, start here: http://shop.amana.com/product_literature/search_results.jsp?searchTerm=ASD2522WRW03&siteCd=AMA&userType=Consumer . The manual is also available at Manage My Life: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/17324/AMANA-Side-by-Side-Refrigerator-L1002225?brand_name_search=ASD2522WRB03+AMANA .

The filter you need is T2RFWG2 and P2RFWG2 (part number 4396841) . The filter is in the base grill on the freezer side of the side by side. There is a cap over the filter. You need to push the release button on the cap to remove the cap and filter. Save the cap and put it on the new filter before replacing the filter. If you replace the cap, you can use the water and ice dispenser without the filter.

If you want a printed copy of the manual, you can order it from Sears Parts Direct. They also have the filter. See http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Amana-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-ASD2522WRW03/1268/0165000/W1009009/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= . The manual is part 1 ($5.99) and the filter is part 30 ($54.98). The filter is also available from Partstore.com http://www.partstore.com/Model/Maytag/Maytag/ASD2522WRW03.aspx for $37. Amana sells the filter here: http://www.amana.com/accessories/refrigerators/water_filters/refrigerator_water_filter___in_the_grille_fast_fill_push_button_4396841.pro?scr=category for $40. If you go here: http://www.amana.com/accessories/refrigerators/water_filters.cat , you can order several filters at once.

I hope this helps.

Amana model# SZD23VE refrigerator were is the water filter? or does it even have a water filter?

Yes it has a water filter option. The water filter housing is in the refrigerator near the top of the unit. You need to twist the old filter itself to the left to remove. (You will be removing a cover that you need to take off the old filter and put on the new filter. This cover can also be replaced without a filter to bypass the filter. The part number for the filter is AP4310541, http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=4310541 .

I hope this helps.

Airconditioner not cooling

Hey ther, you got an old unit there. Usually 24 hours is more than enough time to thaw a coil out. If you leave your fan on it goes a lot quicker but all depends on how much ice it has. Usually a frozen coil is an easy fix but not always. You could be low on refrigerant (make sure they find the leak if it is recharged otherwise it will just happen again), Another cause is dirty filter, or dirty coil, or dirty fan ( probably this since it is old. The last cause is a restriction in the refrigerant lines. That is an expensive fix because they have to pull the refrigerant ot to fix. You shouldn't need any parts regardless except possibly a filter drier or metering device (both can be the restriction in the refrigerant line)
Good Luck

Dirty ice

Did you change the water filter recently? If so, you may have some air in the lines which can be purged with a few minutes of dispensing water through the front.
