I believe VGA converters require power. Is the VGA converter plugged in, and powered on?

Hi Anonymous, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
we need lots for information what is connected here. I guess screen #1 is the internal screen? and 2 is the AL1706 vga >HDMI and Pavillion? what Pavillion is model.
my wild guess is >
1: Pavillion not set to dual mode. (see manual)
2: that unknown hdmi adaptor is not working.
3: aL1706 tested ok, it's old and old monitors do fail, for CCLF back lamps dead, (4:5 square screen monitors are mostly dead now. )
4: PC runs windows. windows what?
5: PC will not see, the old 1706 connected via HDMI, how can it, ?
6: the AL1706 has poor resolution, so you will need to lower (poorer) to get it to work at windows PC. 1280 x 1024 or it will not work.
step 1, take your 1706 and its vga cable
and test it on any PC made with a VGA jack.
and test it at above resolution first
that mean set it first, in windows
then plug in the the 1706 next,.
i bet the monitor is dead, as 99% are ow.
the CCFL tubes die fast, and go DEAD.
fast means 5 to 10 years.
yours is 11 years old, 3 year before those far batter LED LCD monitor took over the market.
id retire it, i have 2 in the attic now.
both went yellow lamps (near ***** )
ugly yellow for white.
