I assembled mine and had the same problem. I called customer service. Apparently they left an important step out of the manual. If it is saying hello, then insert the key and press and hold the ifit sync button for approximately 20 seconds until all zeros appear. You will first see a code and then scrolling dashes on the display. Keep holding until the zeros appear. This activates the machine. The customer service rep said they get lots of calls about this because it’s not in the manual. Now it’s working perfectly.

Maybe if you register the ifit it tells you all of this. But I didn’t and thought I was stuck with a bad machine.

I just put mine together too and it's also doing that. I don't see a key for it at all. Where is the key? What does it look like? And where is it supposed to go? I suspect mine didn't come with this so I'm really confused how to get the console working.

  • Lucy Littleman Nov 07, 2018

Mine has a round red magnetic key that sits in an indented place towards the bottom of the console.

SOURCE: Nordictrack motor will not run when start button is pushed.

Likely the cover of one of the motor brushes popped off. Unplug the machine before you pop it back in place, then try it again.

If that doesn't work, most likely it's the motor control board, or possibly the console, or finally just a loose connection behind the console.

But most likely, it's the motor brush cover. I've been seeing that alot with this model.

The only fix is to replace the console assembly.

Get your model number before going there. Should be (PFTL788072) and is located under the walk belt on the lower frame assembly.

SOURCE: proform 540 console doesn't work

If the console takesbatteries, replace them. If this does not work or your console does not requirebatteries, check the reed switch or optic sensor. Reed Switch: Unplug the treadmill andremove the motor hood cover. The reed switch is mounted on the frame next tothe front roller pulley. There is a magnet glued into the front roller pulley. When adjusting the reed switch, make sure it is pointing directly at themagnet. Move the tip of the reed switch within 1/8" of the magnet. Also, check to see that the wire is not damaged, and is connected to the console. clip_image002.jpgOptic Sensor: Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The optic diskand sensor are located either at the end of the motor or the right hand side ofthe front roller. The optic disk spins between two sensors on the optic switch. The disk must spin freely without touching either sensor. The sensors can bemoved by loosening the adjustment bolt holding the switch to its bracket. Theswitch can then be slid. Center the disk.

After you did these adjustments: Please tight the keypanel flexible cable vs display board and then tight the connector from display board vs lower board.
Try to clean the keypanel with spray contact cleaner with carefully and patience.
See diagrams. Good luck, sincerely. G-d bless you.

12_6_2011_5_46_41_pm.gif12_6_2011_5_46_57_pm.gifWith the block diagram that I did you will have a strong resultant if the keypanel board is faulty or display board completely. See how the main motor control has 90% functions in any treadmills.

PROFORM zT5 treadmill beeps 3 times in succession but none of the console buttons work or the screen will not work. Anytime hu ou touch any of the buttons it beeps 3 times in fast succession.

Many times the console is not recognizing the safety key with this type of response.

Otherwise it is your upper control board or lower control board, most likely lower.

Double check the safety key

Hello there, It seems that you have a stuck button or a problem with the ifit card area. Yes I know you probably dont use it but just listen. If you have the demo card for the unit try putting the demo card into the ifit slot and press it in and out a couple of times. This will sometimes correct this problem. If that does not correct it then you will need to replace the console or possibly disconnect the ifit section from the console itself. Either way you will need to remove the console.
If more info is needed please leave me a note here and I will get back to you asap.

To Access/replace the CCU:

#1

Unplug the Whirlpool Cabrio power cord from the wall outlet. Turn off the water supply to the washing machine. Pull the washer away from the wall so that you can access the screws behind the control console. Remove the hex head screws securing the control console to the washer with a nut driver. The screws are on the lower rear edge of the control console.
#2

Lift the control console up, and rotate the console forward so that the face of the console is resting on the top of the washer. Locate the interface board cable connector to the right of the plastic tube on the back of the console. Pull the end of the connector straight out of the control console. The primary machine control is the box that the plastic tube connects.
#3

Place small pieces of masking tape around the nine wires connecting to the primary machine console. Label the wire locations onto the masking tape with a pencil. Grasp each wire at the connector with your fingers, and pull the wires away from the primary control. Pull the plastic tube out of the primary control.
#4

Locate the nut toward the bottom of the primary control. Remove the nut with a nut driver. Lift the front of the primary control slightly, and slide it down to disengage the retaining clips. Pull the primary control out of the control console. Insert the new primary control into the control console. Slide the primary control up to engage the lower clips. Secure the primary control to the console with the single hex head screw.
#5

Push each of the wire connectors into their respective positions on the primary control until they lock into place. Push the plastic tube hose over the port on the right side of the primary control. Remove the small pieces of masking tape from the wires.
#6

Position the control console back upright on the top of the washer. Secure the control console to the washer with the three hex head retaining screws. Slide the washer back against the wall. Turn on the water supply and plug the washer into the wall outlet.
