I have a Frigidaire ffre 1233s1 AC unit that is not putting out cold air. The fan and compressor are working normally. What else should I check?

If both are running you may be low on frreon, inspect for leaks before recharging.

this will require being done by ac repair. depending on the age of unit you will have to weigh the cost of repair against value of unit. based on the price I would have it repaired. When you call for service just tell that it blowing hot air, and you have idea of what is wrong. Good Luck

Are you certain the compressor is working?

Testimonial: "Yes, I raised the temperature to the room temperature and I heard it shut off. It went back on when I turned the temp back down."

Unplug it for a bit ! If the humidity is high and it's cooling a bit at night you probably have frozen cooling coils. Unplug it for 3 hrs and see if a whole pile of water drops out as the ice begins to melt. Once it's cleared set your cooling temp gauge down a bit at night ( bet it's set to maximum ) so the ice melts between chilling sessions. This is a common problem in cars also. If it stops working turn it off .... When it melts you'll see the water start pouring out. Then give it a bit and try using it again.

Testimonial: "When I look in it, it is extremely clean and has no water in the pan or dripping."

these motors are famous for the inyernal fuse blowing in the fan motor. check continuity between the red and blac wires. if there is non the fuse is gone. These motors are fairly easy to take apart and change the fuse . hope this helps

SOURCE: York Mini-Split Not Cooling? : (

This can only be a gas problem.
the split units goes on on and off if a shortage of gas is involved, the chances that you would here it wont be that big for the fans would make too much noise.
get a repair man for a re gas and all is well.

Good luck.

SOURCE: Whirlpool portable AC, compressor works, but no exhaust fan

This is a single speed permanent split capacitor motor for the condenser. One of the capacitor wires shows infinite resistance to hot and netral. The motor needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: Compressor Fan stop working

Do you have a meter? Either the fan is bad or the capacitor is bad. Ohm out the fan and then the capacitor. Be sure you take the disconnect out of the electrical box on the side of the house and or trip the breaker off. The capacitor is a dual run one side operates the compressor and one side operates the fan. I would really bet on the capacitor being bad. Have seen that a lot in my experience. Be sure to make note of the wiring of the capacitor before you take it out to check and if you are not sure how to check it take it to the parts house and they can check it.

Electrolux ac heat/cool window unit blows cold air on heat.

There are a few possible reasons why an Electrolux window AC unit may be blowing cold air when set to heat mode. Here are a few things you can try to fix the problem:
  1. Check the thermostat settings: Make sure that the thermostat is set to "heat" mode and that the temperature is set higher than the current room temperature.
  2. Clean the air filter: A dirty air filter can restrict airflow and prevent the unit from heating properly. Clean or replace the filter according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Check the air ducts: Make sure that all of the air ducts are properly connected and that there are no leaks or blockages.
  4. Check the compressor: If the compressor is not running, the unit will not heat. Make sure that the compressor is running and that the compressor's fan is functioning properly.
  5. Inspect the heating element: Make sure that the heating element is not broken or damaged and check the continuity with a multimeter.
  6. Contact the manufacturer or a professional technician if the problem persists or you are unable to troubleshoot the issue.
Note: Before you start troubleshooting, make sure to turn off the power to the unit and unplug it from the electrical outlet.

If my fan and compressor for my Frigidaire ffre 1233s1 are both running, but the air is not cold, what should I check?

There would be two fans, one outside and one inside, both must work. If the compressor works, does the compressor output small line get hot and the return cool or cold? On the outside radiator or condenser, inlet should be hot and outlet cool/warm to touch.

Why isnt my frigidaire side by side refrigerator cooling and compressor is working?

you need to put a set of gages on the unit and check the Freon amount

Not staying cool

sounds like it is either low on Freon or the compressor is going out. The blowing ice cold is an indicator that it may be freezing up because the low Freon. when it stops blowing cold, turn it to fan only mode and see if it gets colder again. If that is the case then the unit is low on freon and freezing up. I know that sounds confusing but that is how AC works. The low freon pressure means the gas is expanding too fast and the air flow cannot take up the cold from the evaporator fast enough. Turning the compressor off and keeping the fan on will alow the room air to take up the cold.

Bad run capacitor or bad compressor. If you hear an occasional click from the compressor try a new run cap and then a hard start kit. Otherwise it's more economical to purchase a new unit.

Compressor only stays on for 2-3 minutes than shuts off

if the sensors are okay, it might be the compressor overheating, my portable ac (moretti elite ac) is also behaving the same, especially when i turn the fan to max. the compressor shuts down about 7 mins and turns on again in about 5 mins, now i found out when i turn to medium or low the compressor runs normally. i think when on medium or low setting some of the cool air directs/channels to the compressor thus cooling it more.

My ac is not blowing cold air. the fan will only blow warm air. It seems like the compressor is not working.

The unit may be low on refrigerant. There is probably a low pressure switch in the unit to protect the compressor so it wont turn on and get damaged beyond repair. You can take it to your local appliance repair shop and have it looked at. I would get a quote on repair first. Most of the time it is cheaper to buy a new unit than it is to pay just the labor to have it repaired.

Frigidaire FAS296N2A starting capacitor

If it has a start capacitor the papper hole in the top of the start capacitor
will be broken if the capacitor was shorted I would have the run capacitor frist But if there is not a burnt wire then the compressor may be bad. You can try a hard start kit that pulgs on the two terminals of the run cap to see if the compressor will start but you will need a amp meter to tell if the compressor will continue to run
