SOURCE: manual for free spirit model 30516
it comes from sears , this brand is built in jonesboro ,and is not a top of the line brand but does what most other treadmills do , you can probably go to sears and see if they have a treadmill like your in the showroom and then ask a salesman if the sears service center carries theese manuals or maybe he can tell you where to get one , their is no volume control on theese machines for the beep , but if you locate the sound holes which are most likely on the bottom of the display board you can use a piece of ductape and cover this speaker to make it less noisy ,Hope this has helped ,Sincerely glenn

SOURCE: need a manual for a free spirit treadmill club
Your best luck might be to search on PDFGeni.com. They have a selection of PDF manuals for hard-to-find TM's. Yours was sold at Sears for several years (they might still make it; not sure).

[from my Owner's Manual]...
On MY Free Sprit mdl 309180:
1. Remove the safety tether from the treadmill.
2. Press POWER button and hold.
3. While pressing the POWER button, insert the safety tether.
4. After lights on the LED display go out, release POWER button. You will hear a beep.
5. Press POWER button again. You are now in kilometers per hour.
* Repeat steps 1 - 5 to convert to miles per hour.
* If you are in kilometers per hour mode, you will see a "Si" in the time section when the safety tether is inserted.
* If you are in the miles per hour mode, you will see a "bri" in the time section when the safety tether is inserted.
Hope this helps,

SOURCE: new free spirit treadmill - L5 code what does it mean?
Yeah - the sensor is the problem... It is magnetic... You can find it next to the wheel on the belt - It is fairly small.... There is a metal disc in the wheell on the belt that is a magnet.. As it passes by the sensor - the sensor registers the magnet and can simply calculate speed based on the frequency of the passes... Sometimes the sensor slides too far back and ergo can`t register the magnet passing by - Then you get the L5 error...
