If the volume control is turned up and the unit doesn't have any audio when alarming, it sounds like you may need a new speaker. Call Whistler at 800-531-0004 and they will set you up.
Which model Whistler is it? Does the sound work during the self-test? Depending on the age of the unit Whistler may have the speaker for it. Call 800-531-0004 to check on availablity.
You can order a replacement speaker and install it yourself by calling 800-531-0004 The speaker costs $10 which includes shipping. Tip, when removing old speaker make certain to note how the speaker wires are routed this is important.
contact Whistler at [email protected] and let them know what doesn't work on your detector. Does it not power up? does it not pick up radar? does it not make any sound? does the lights not work?
call whistler 800-531-0004 i believe you can buy the factory one from them or pick up an 8 ohm mini speaker at an electrics store this may take some splicing as the ones from electronics store usually are not exact but you can make them work , just make sure you take the old one with you it is easier to match up at the store
This model has been out of production for quite some time. You could try contacting Uniden to see if, by chance, they still have some replacement speakers for this older RD model. In any event, you would be well served to purchase a modern radar detector which provides far better performance. Personally, I recommend products produced by the following manufacturers:

Holding down the volume button will cycle up and down through the volume settings. Yet I suspect that the internal speaker has finally given up the ghost. This is a pretty old Whistler RD. I would highly recommend upgrading to a modern radar detector which has much better overall performance. One of my favorite current Whistler products for the budget conscious is their Pro78. This model provides very good performance at a reasonable price.
The lower end Whistler radar detector models do not have particularly good performance against all radar gun frequencies. Whistler's XTR-690, Pro78 and XTR-695 on the other hand do perform very well against all police radar guns. Its basically a matter of you get what you pay for.
