Are you sure that it is a 1.6 motor
as 1.6 motors use a belt not a chain
your statement that it has 12 on each cam indicates that it is a v engine or a double over head engine
in any case you do not count links but put the colored links directly over the sprocket dots
you have to use a cam locking tool to get it right

SOURCE: Hello,

There are two ways to solve it, with a macro and without.
In either way, the concept is to determine the difference between rows, if it is more than 1 hour, then you have detected the missing row.

With a formula, you can tell excel to put true if it is the case and correct it manually.

For a macro, basically you detect the same thing and then insert a line with all the appropiate information. I can write the code for you, but i would prefer to have the sheet. You can send me the information to my mail [email protected]

i have change mine with open motor while reparing my transmission and i`m not sure that`s a good idea to change it in place, but if it`s work you will save time. I took about 8 hours to close transmission and motor and take it back in place.

Diagram of timing specs on a 2000volkswagen Passat

There are several engines in a 2000 Passat, but none of them have adjustable timing that I know of. The main thing one needs are camshaft timing marks. If it is the 2.8 V6, I won't even begin to start because you need to rent cam position tools, and you need a book.
The Vr6 is a chain and you don't set cam timing normally.
The 1.8 turbo looks like the link, I believe.

Timing chain marks needed for Audi A4 B9 1.8tfsi 2009 model. Engine was taken out and settings not marked. This is extremelyurgent. Please help

diagrams I have show a twin cam set up with 2 balancing shafts. The marks on the cam shaft point to (left cam shaft 11 oclock the mark on the right point to the 1 oclock position. The chain will have 3 black links-- the top black links will be at the timing marks on the shafts with the 3rd black link directly at 6 oclock facing a mark on the gear. The balancer marks both point to the 1 oclock position with black links on each and the 3rd black link will be facing a mark to the 7 oclock position on the crankahaft gear. Everything is done with the piston at TDC no 1 cylinder so get it there before you put the cam shafts in position or you will bend valves. Crank shaft gear is not keyed to the crank shaft. there are dots on the right hand balancer shaft gears and these dots will be as the 2 dots on adjacent teeth either side of a dot on the meshing gear. I suppose that is all as clear as mud but if you got this far then you will see the marks and marked links on the chains
