Just get (found) this PC, or it just happened out of the blue???
history matters.
no OS stated> edge 2 what, it has numbers after the 2.
maybe someone changed the Language on your PC, (prank)
why not grab a (barrow) USB keyboard from anyone. plug it in....
plug it in, if the keys fail now the OS is set to any of 50 different languages.
google microsoft.com, for setting that LANG. in your unstated OS.
XP,VIsta,w8,w10? they have the answer there, they built the OS.

in w10 in the run box type settings
in that page click time and LANG.
I see united states in my box, do you see yours?
there is also there page for changing keyboards, for 50 _types
even QWERTY , AND odd DEVORK BOARDS, AND MORE.
endless choices it seem on keyboards and language.
you can also set up 2 langages, add a language.
then switch fast, by clicking task bar ions.

Your numlock is turned on. There is more than one way to turn it off.Find a USB keyboard, and plug it in. Then push the numlock key on the USB keyboard to turn it off.OR, if you don't have access to one of those, hold down the fn key (lower left hand corner of the keyboard) and press the key with numlock or number lock written on or near it.

Lenovo Laptop 3000 N100: When Pressing some keybord characters it gives additional characters for example: Pressing on "n" gives 6n, pressing on 5 gives 5b. Thanks.

Hi doronzl,
As soon as you turn the computer ON press and Holding down the FN key+the Num lock key, if this does not work uninstall all Lenovo programs such as ooVoo, IDvault, Lenovo Easy Share, Lenovo Guarded ID, and also uninstall Lenovo Readycom, FYI after uninstall Lenovo Readycom it will restart your computer, that is OK. OH yeah try uninstall the Lenovo Smile Dock as well if you have that it will only give you a smiley face on your desktop and nothing else.
You do not need to uninstall Lenovo Veriface if you have that, No need to uninstall Lenovo Easy Camera or Lenovo Cam suite which ever you have, No need to uninstall Energy Management.
If still the issue is the same I suggest that you restore that machine back to factory defaults to see if the issue will still be the same if it will be the same then this is going to be a keyboard problem and needs replacing.
I hope this Helps.
Have a nice day,

THE KEY M,J,K,L,U,I,O,P RETURNING 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,* RESPECTIVELY

Hi,

Those letters have secondary functions as numbers. Check if numlock is enabled. To disable it you need to press Fn and whatever key among F8, F11 or INSERT has the NUMLK function. after doing so, try those characters and see if they still type numbers instead of letters.

KEY PAD IS NOT WORKIG

you can try doing this: hold the "Fn" key and then press the different-color-numpad-enabling key (generally one of the function keys). now be warned that most of the laptops use a compact keyboard integrated with the numpad, so if you activate this function, some of your character keys will be turned into numpad-disposition keys. mostly the keys "u", "j" and "m" are changed repesctively into "4", "1" and "0".

The keyboard characters does not correspond to what appears on sc

Does it type " by any chance when you press the @ key? if so this is usually because keyboard input is set to the wrong language in the regional & language settings are wrong in the control panel. try pressing the left alt key & shift at same time first this is a quick key to change between input languages.

How do I use NumLoc on lenovo t-60? No keys for it?

If you hold down the Fn (function key) and hit one of the NumLock keys, this will type those NumLock characters usually printed in blue on the keytop). Also this is different on virtually every laptop, but one key should say NumLock or have a picture of a lock on it in blue. This is the NumLock and it is toggled by holding the Fn key and that key.

IBM Wheelwriter 3 typing incorrect characters

If you have another printwheel try that, if you still have the trouble try blowing out the area where it is in stalled. If that fails turn the machine off then back on, after it completes the POR mark the printwheel with some white out, repeat the POR see if the mark is in the same place, if it isin't you probably have a selection plate problem.
