Where is the coolant temperature sensor located in a 2000 Cadillac Deville? C. Alexander Darden, Tampa, Florida

Hey Charles , not be nosy but why do what to know this ? Temp gauge not working ? Maybe be able to save you time an money ,replacing a part that doesn't need to be replaced . Don't know if your aware how that works. The temp. sensor is an input to the engine computer (PCM) . PCM calculates temp. then sends that info on class 2 serial data bus where the microprocessor in the instrument cluster uses that info to control step motor for temp. gauge . If unaware of this your best bet is to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

Does the water temp gauge in the dash work? I'd be willing to bet it doesn't. Turn ignition on, check for voltage at water temp sensor harness. If voltage is present, replace water temp sensor. Check the air temp sensor also. If there's no voltage, find out why. Maybe both sensors are on the same harness on this truck and it has become disconnected somehow?
Wish i could offer more specifics but i don't have a wiring diagram handy. Good luck.

2007 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. I was driving and my digital dashboard reported engine hot and AC turned off. My temperature gauge read cool. What do I need to replace?

This sounds like a bad coolant temp sensor that give computer false reading, check the coolant temp sensor connector and if it is good with no bad wires to connector then replace coolant temp sensor , when the computer gets a signal from temp sensor that engine is hot it turns fans on high speed to cool radiator and displays a/c turned off , if this truck does not have electric cooling fans then they wont run just explaining what happens depending on engine and cooling set up. replace coolant temp sensor and check connector.

Temperature gage does not show temp properly, gage jumps all over but engine is not overheated.

if the engine is not over heating then the gage is in need of replacing.

I have a 2002 Grand Am GT, Ram Air V6. Last year the check engine light came on that indicated the engine temp was too LOW. So I replaced the thermostat and temp sensor. Now the engine light has came on...

Thermostat is the only thing that can cause this fault. Check the thermostat again. Just take it out and see if it's open. If not, maybe you need to reflash your computer. The reference temperature or sensor calibration it is using may be corrupted. If you have more questions, please let me know.

Temp gauge stuck

Maybe temp sensor became disconnected, or damaged.
Look for it in the engine block, right by the radiator hose intake. Test the gauge by shorting the wires that lead up to sensor. If gauge reads full temp, gauge and wiring is ok. Next clean the contacts at the sensor, and if not successful, replace the sensor.

My engine light when on in my car yesterday and my friend has one of those things that can scan and tell you whats wrong it said my coolent temp below thermistat regulating temp and where where you pull...

Your coolant temp sensor was not reading right, and is a sensor that adjusts your eng timing. I would keep an eye on your coolant level. That would be a bigger concern, figuring out if you have a leak. If the cold comes back, you need to change out the coolant temp sensor.

Over heating

In general I know of no reason per se to replace the thermostat and temp sensor because you replaced the radiator fan. If the temp gauge seems to be staying in the 1/3-2/3 of full scale, and there is no apparent engine control issues as the engine warms from cold to operating temperature then there is no obvious reason to replace those items. Other than fan motor failure is there any reason for you to believe these other parts are at fault? You can get a free fault code readout at an Autozone parts store which would highlight a temp sensor problem, but there is no fault code for the thermostat except maybe the one for engine running cold for too long a time after start up. You could also check the resistance of the temp sensor which should run around 10-14,000 ohms when cold and drop to 700-1,000 ohms when warmed up.
I don't know about the issue of replacing the thermostat because I don't know which engine you are working with. So let me know an
