I have the exact same thing and i have to get a whole new player. if you keep your headphones cord in the mp3 jack it makes the headphone jack get bigger so it wiggles and you can only hear from one bud. you may not want to mess with it too much because otherwise you could ruin your mp3. ask a person at a electronic store and see if there is a way to make it last a little longer. its connected to the hard drive thats why you cant fix it completly

Did you try plugging in the audio device before turning on the radio? If so, follow this by pressing the PTT on the radio once. It should clear the problem.

What i did was to "heat them up" with a hair dryer so that any wax from my ear that had gotten inside would "melt", then I cleaned them with alcohol and a q-tip and I made sure I let a bit of alcohol to get inside the ear bud, then I dryed it with the hair dryer again very carefully and tested to see the results and WHALA works just fine
buy new headphones?. i think a lot better than trying to repair it. it sounds like you are talking about where both earbud wires come together at the molded connector part that splices the wires together. unless you are mechanically inclined and electrically astute, you should just replace the
