SOURCE: kenmore chest freezer

check light inside .on? you got power. check compressor in back on? if no then you probably have a bad stat. open door and look inside for numbered dial. turn max hot to max cold back and forth. if compressor comes on you need a new stat probably. remember only a stat a compressor on these units. if its hot stat should send power to compressor. if power is arriving at compressor and not running then start relay and or start cap are probably bad. but if compressor is running and still no cool then your probably out of freon. unfortunitly these boxes are made with steel tubing in the cabinets. when you move them lots of times the tubing rusts and ruptures. then your all done. new freezer time. they are sealed to the point there are not even a place to apply gages to check charge. you can gently remove power and then stat and jump thermomstat to take it out of equation and if compressor runs you need a new stat. constant power comes in one side of the stat and when the sensing tube is heated it closes the points to the outlet side and puts power to the compressor. there may also be a ground wire usually green be sure to observe which two are power in and power out. usually side by side. good luck

SOURCE: Can I Mount Casters with Screws into Bottom of Chest Freezer?

youyr best bet would be to build a frame that the casters are welded to and there are no holes in the outer shell of the freezer. some L shaped angle would work nicely for this application and then there would be plenty of support for when the freezer is loaded up with product. Be sure that teo of the casters are lockable and two in the swivel freely.

SOURCE: GE 5CF CHEST FREEZER

I got delivery today for the same freezer and had the same question.
I just called GE's customer service number (800-626-2005) and the agent told me that GE uses this button panel (which has the green on/off light switch, the two white switches, and the round control dial) for all or most of its freezers. But the buttons do not do anything on the 5 cubic foot chest freezer. They are not connected to anything and are non-active buttons. On other freezer models above this one, the two switches serve a purpose, but not the 5CF model. This is a simple, inexpensive freezer and it doesn't have bells and whistles--but it does have the same control panel as the multi-feature freezers. Hope that helps.

I have bought a 9 foot chest-freezer model FFC0923DW8, and noticed there is a loose yellow cable on the rear bottom corner that sticks out. Is this normal. I have not yet plugged the appliance nor turned...

Hello Ralph Powell - No, it is not normal. Since it was recently purchase, I suggest contacting the store from where it was purchase or the manufacturer directly for procedures on how this issue may be taken care of.

One side of freezer has stopped freezing... bottom is not frozen

You have either got a blockage in the system or there is a leak. My bet it is a leak. Seen this many times on the whirlpool.

Temperature

If this unit has a control it would be located on the outer left side in the lower right hand corner. There would be a dial, the higher the number the cooler the temperature. Many of these chest freezers did not have an adjustable control.

The top half of the freezer does not work

I have a Scandinova chest freezer and the left hand side froze, but not the right side, because the compressor in the box under the right side of the freezer was getting so hot, a small amount of heat was conducting back through into the right side of the freezer and preventing anything on that side from freezing!
I solved this problem by running the compressor outside of the of the freezer box, by taking the air vent off, unbolting the compressor and then pulling out by about 20cm and running it from there.

Frigidaire Deluxe Chest Freezer is constantly

Two things to check without knowing the model number.

It is possible the drain plug was left out or not inserted correctly after defrosting and it is leaking..

Also there is sometimes an evaporator pan with a heater element on the bottom. If the heater element failed the evaporator pan would overflow.
