SOURCE: Got a motorola razr v3 on ebay. Not reading SIM card.

eBay is notorious for selling "unlocked" cell phones that actually aren't. I have run into this problem twice. Unfortunately, I had to pay for an unlocking service to TRULY unlock the phone. Sellers figure you are not going to switch service and will never figure it out. If you shop for Unlocked AT&T Motorola phones, they figure that you'll stick with AT&T and never know that the phone is not unlocked. I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile and found out that my V3 Razr, and my Nokia 3590, and Nokia 3595 were still locked to AT&T. The Nokia phones I was able to unlock myself with online resources. Motorola attempts were unsuccessful. I found an unlocking service on eBay, worked like a charm. It cost me about $3. A Google search for unlocking services revealed very, very expensive unlocking services which did NOT work. Luckily I paid with Paypal and was able to get my money back through the dispute process. Services outside of eBay were $20 and up. And mostly ripoffs.

For a V3 Razr, search eBay for "unlock code Motorola Master Code or Manufacturers Code" don't waste time with carrier codes... go for the heart of the problem. Get a Master Code for your model Motorola, and you'll never have to unlock it again, regardless of carrier.

SOURCE: Ebay gift card

Hi Margie,

It is best to contact Ebay support. I am pretty sure they will be able to help you out. Normally, gift cards have numbers on them. Their system will be able to tell if the card has been used or not.

All the best!

SOURCE: Won't allow me to use my gift card funds

In order to fix this problem, go to billing info, and when it lets you choose the credit card method, choose the option "none" then it will let you use your gift card. Otherwise it assumes you want to use a credit card. Hope this helps.

I received Uber gift card and gift code peeled off so last three numbers are gone what do I do

Hello, Maureen -

Unless the person who gave you the Uber gift card kept the receipt for the gift card purchase or the activation receipt (which will have the full gift card number printed on it) and can give you the original receipt/s or photocopies, you may be out of luck.

For the future regarding gift cards, read the information here:

Best wishes.

Why can I not register my Prepaid Visa? I keep getting a code saying to contact the code to get help.

Some sites will not accept prepaid visa cards as payment. I have had this problem before and ended up using the prepaid visa card to buy a gift card to the store I wanted to purchase from online and this worked very well.

Unable to redeem a gift card

About Gift Card Redemption Problems

If you're having problems redeeming a gift card to your account, it's possible that the gift card claim code has already been redeemed to your account. After you've entered the claim code on our site, we'll keep the balance in your account for use on future purchases so that you don't need to enter the claim code again. If you're seeing an error message that the gift card has already been redeemed, it's likely because the gift card claim code has already been applied to your account. To check whether the funds are already on your account, view your gift card balance in Your AccountYour Account. If you're still having problems, check the Gift Card Terms & Conditions to make sure your order meets the rules and restrictions for paying with a gift card. If your Amazon.com Gift Card claim code is scratched off or can't be clearly read, you can contact us with the 16 or 30 digit number on the back of the card.If the gift card is for a retailer other than Amazon.com, please contact that retailer for assistance.

How do I use my gift card?

You can pay for eBay items with e-gift certificates, gift cards, and coupons. You need to have eBay and PayPal accounts, but if you don't, you'll be given the opportunity to register on eBay and sign up for a PayPal account when you purchase an item.

To redeem an e-gift certificate, gift card, or coupon, you'll need to log into your PayPal account when you purchase the item. If you don't have an account, you'll be given an opportunity to sign up.
To use an e-gift certificate, gift card, or coupon:

  1. Click the Pay now button.
  2. If the seller offers more than one shipping option, select the one you want.
  3. Enter the redemption code in the Redeem a Gift Card, certificate, or coupon field.
Tip: If you received your redemption code online, it's easier to copy and paste it into the redemption code field instead of typing it.
  4. Click the Apply button to see your new order total, and then click the Continue button.
  5. On the next page, log in to your PayPal account.
  6. Select a PayPal payment method, and then click the Continue button.
  7. Check your order details, and then click the Confirm payment button.
