What does the code 203 on my wired in Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detector mean. It went off and that is the code that came up. It was installed in 2009. We might have replaced it since then.

Unless the number was displayed in alternation with 888, leave the house and call 911. You need to have someone to check your appliances for incomplete burning, leaks in their exhaust piping or a vehicle that is running inside or too close to an air intake. The 203 is the current carbon monoxide reading. The 888 indicates a self-test and other number is only shown for test purposes.

Please stay safe.

YES!!!! If this unit is working properly you should not be in the house. Maximum allowable safety level for an 8 hour period is 50! If you think it's working properly call the fire department! This will cause dizziness, nausea, etc. Let your fire department find the problem! If you don't believe me follow this link to owner's manual but do it quickly: http://www.kiddeus.com/utcfs/ws-384/Assets/KN-COB-B(9CO5)en.pdf

SOURCE: My nighthawk Kidde carbon monoxide detector keeps

Some models of Carbon Monoxide Detectors will give an audible beep every 25-30 seconds after it has sounded an alert alarm. This may have happened when there was noone home to hear it. A periodic beeping sound may also indicate it is time to change the battery.

Solution: Install a new battery and check your manual for instructions on how to reset the system. Check the expiry date on your unit, it needs to be replaced after 5 to 7 years, according to the manufacturer specifications.

If you are in doubt that your Carbon Monoxide Detector is not working effectively, REPLACE IT. Your safety and your peace of mind is worth it.

SOURCE: our kidde battery operated Carbon Monoxide

Relocate it to an area of fresh air - outside will work.. Does it still beep?
If yes, recover the new battery and toss the unit.

Do you have it located in a steamy damp area? Laundry room, bath room etc.. That will cause it to malfunction too..

SOURCE: By LAFYRAD7170 on Aug 13,

If the display shows "Err", push and hold the Peak Level button. Does the display change to "E09"? If so, then you have just been "had" by the grossly under-documented "planned obsolescence feature" called, rather matter-of-factly, "End of Life". This means that ~7 years after first being powered up, the unit will, BY DESIGN, cease to function, forcing you to buy a replacement. Would have been nice of Kidde to include THAT warning on the OUTSIDE of the package. Call their "Hotline" at 1-800-880-6788 and tell them what you think of that policy. If it is still under warranty (5 or 7 years depending on date of manufacture) they should replace it. In any event, buy another one; if they replace your first one you will have twice the protection. Not a bad thing. _ Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle.Words to live by: "Every creative act results from a sudden cessation of stupidity." -Edwin H. SOURCE: carbon monoxide detector err code

Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (It's not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon: Amazon com Carbon monoxide detector (watch out on reviews). I hope this was helpful. cheers

Kidde AC Plug in Operated Carbon Monoxide AlarmKN COB LCB

The above link is to get a copy of the user guide. However, it does not show anything regarding an error code J90...in fact, I can find no reference to this code on the Kidde website. You would be well-advised to call their support number or contact them through their website: "Call our Product Support Line at 1-800-880-6788 or contact us at our website at www.kidde.com". If you get a definitive answer it would be nice if you would post it here for others to see. Thank you.

I have a nighthawk carbon monoxide alarm which is showing nan error code. Please can you tell me what to do to rectify it? Thank you.

You can unplug the unit if it's an AC detector, change the battery for a new one and reset the Carbon Monoxide Detector. If that doen't work, you can have it checked by your local fire department. If the unit is more than 5 years old, it absolutely needs to be replaced.

Whenever in doubt about the efficiency of a carbon monoxide detector, a replacement is recommended. Yes, protection has a price, but a life cannot be replaced.

How to fix detector

You don't mention how old the detector is. If it is more than 5 years old the detector may be beeping to indicate the end of its service life. A smoke detector can last much longer but carbon monoxide detectors have a limited life span. If putting in new batteries doesn't fix the problem then most likely you will need to replace it.
