SOURCE: Precor EFX 546 elliptcal shuts off
Your problem is most likely due to the magnetic sensor on the right side of the unit under the plastic housing.
The right pedal arm, has a magnet emeded in the on the inboard side of the arm. When the arm comes around and passes this sensor at the bottom of the unit, a pulse is generated and sent to the computer.
The mangetic sensor on the frame of the unit, may need to be adjusted to a closer proximity with the pedal arm magnet. Assure the arm does not strike the magnetic sensor however.
It's also possible the sensor has come loose and fallen into the base of the unit.

You may have to purchase the belt from a Precor dealer in you area, if you don't have one then call Precor directly @ 1-800-347-4404 and they will help you. Most of these part have not hit the secondary market yet and Precor pretty much call the shots.

There is also a 1 year part warrant for other parts, I just don't know what parts they are covering for the 10 yr.

Thanks Steve ! I looked over the docs you've shared and they are much appreciated. I did see a Key Test mode but didn't see much on what to try if a key fails. Since posting my question, I managed to pick up a salvage unit for parts and have simply swapped out consoles, but I'm still interested in how one might fix a failed key if such a thing is even possible ? Thanks again !!
fiddle with it what have you got to lose?
