Error F-9 means:Door lock safety circuit on ERC sensed Replace the door latch assembly

To solve this...Just press and hold the door latch to unlock position and then press cancel for a few seconds. The latch will return to its original position

This will probably fix it..but if doesnt work try this
Try unplugging the oven from the electrical power. May release the lock, which is held in place by a tiny micro switch. If not and while the electric is still off or the oven is unplugged, use a bright light flashlight to look through the slot where the lock is in the oven, not in the door.

You may be able to use a thin blade screwdriver to move the lock to the release position. Check the angle of the lever. A slightly bent lever handle also can cause this type of condition.

If all else fails, remove the access panel on the front of the oven to access the locking device and release it. May have to disconnect the wires to the lock which will allow door to function but not during any self cleaning modes.

SOURCE: Whirlpool self cleaning oven, Super capacity 465, door will not close

I had the same FSE error which the whirpool web site advises that you will need to schedule a service appt to fix. Instead I leaded against the door while initiating the cleaning cycle and the door locks and oven cleans fine.

SOURCE: Oven locked so I can't shut door/operate oven

Thanks a million, solved the problem like a charm. For those that can't find it, it is on the left side orf the OVEN, not the stove. Once you open the door, you'll find it on the frame's upper left side corner, can't miss it. Good luck

Tried to clean it. Door has locked and won't cycle open again. Help!

Hello.

To close an oven door when it's in the locked position andthe door is open, press and hold the oven door light switch while followingthese simple steps:
  • Program the oven to self-clean.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
  • Cancel self-clean.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
To self-clean your wall oven, follow these simple steps:
  • Remove the oven racks.
  • Set your oven control to "Clean."
  • Select a cleaning time or choose a cleaning level: light, medium or heavy. For typical cleaning needs, we recommend that you select a cleaning time of three hours or choose the medium setting.
  • Select "Start." (To set a delayed start, see your Use & Care Guide.)

Note: For safety reasons, the oven door will remain locked until the oven coolsdown. When it is sufficiently cool, the door will automatically unlock Thanks for using fixya.

Got F9 on Amana range model ACS3350 while trying to clean oven. The door is locked and got constant beeping with F9 error code. Powered off oven for 10 minutes and powered on, still getting the door...

Shut off the circuit breaker to it for FIVE minutes, then back on. If the problem persists then do the following:

A latch locks the center top INSIDE of the door during cleaning.
Run a piece of semi-stiff, flat object, like a cardboard strip that is in L shape behind the top lip of the door from RIGHT TO LEFT. You may need to push it along with your finger jambed in there when it reaches the latch. With a little push the latch should open.

Try to run the oven, if F9 shows again, press cancel Oven to quiet it. The Lock state is still in place. Move the latch hook manually all the way to RIGHT. Then shut off the circuit breaker for FIVE minutes, then back on. The oven should work ok.

If this fails again try the five minute shut off with the latch in other starting positions.

If none of these work then the latch mechanism, or it's motor is really broken. Replace or ditch and never buy Amana again!

OVEN WILL NOT COME ON AND IT DISPLAYS F9. WHAT DO YOU DO?

Hi

F9 is a door lock error and to solve this issue you can hold the light switch for 15 seconds, this will reset the control. If it won't work then hold the light switch in and set the unit to clean and after a minute press cancel to cancel the clean cycle. If still it won't work then the door lock assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

The oven door won't close all the way. The "lock" light on the upper left is on. No amount of fiddling has solved this problem and oven is unusable. Help please!

Doors will not lock or unlock. Where are the fuses?

The answer was sent to FixYa by rstelter.

The initial indication of the door problem was a chattering noise when a cleaning cycle was initiated. The cleaning cycle was then aborted and the door remained locked.

Here is the fix.
I restarted the cleaning cycle and when a chatter began I 'jiggled' the door until it opened. I removed the door lock mechanism (4 screws and two connectors) and found that the motor driven cam actuator cycle stopped in the locked position, a high point on the cam. I could not rotate the mechanism because of motor gearing, so I used a drill to remove the rivet heads from the motor mount, which also opens the motor.

The top half of the motor contains the motor and a small transfer gear. The bottom half attaches to the cam through gearing. I rotated the cam drive to the full open position and rotated the gearing to match. I reassembled the motor by attaching it with two 1-1/4" x 1/8" screws and lock nuts. After reassembly the oven works as new.

The main cam bearing is a shallow raised section of plastic riding in a hole in the thin steel frame of the mechanism, and the edge of the bearing is rounded. I did not inspect closely, but I believe there is a potential for binding, which may have stalled the motor in the locked position. Jiggling the door while the mechanism chattered may have relieved the binding enough to release the door.

I was quoted $129.00 just to have an Amana technician look at the problem in 'about a week'. I'm sure they would have replaced the latch with a new assembly (another week and another visit).

Latch does not catch on oven door.

Possible solution: The clean oven safety latch is in the latched position already. Move latch to opposite side and try closing door again. Latch not usually needed except during cleaning cycle.

Good luck,

Oven door stuck

To open the door, raise the oven top and use a a flat head screwdriver to open the lock manually.
The door will still lock itself when you close it, so this is only usefull to get your food out.
