SOURCE: Hi. I have a Dyson AM05 fan heater purchased July 2014. Whilst the cold air works brilliantly the hot air doesn't work at all. It shows an error message E8. Any advice?

I suspect that the microprocessor detected an overheat fault and is keeping it in E8 mode to prevent fire. The code needs to be cleared somehow. If it has some buttons on the front then try holding one whilst plugging it in. This may reset it. The reset will be something along those lines. Don't open it because if you can't fix it that way you need to take it back to the shop.

What does e8 mean on the display?

Hi Nigan, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your Dyson Hot + Cool fan heater is displaying an E8 error code, you may need to reset your machine. To do this, just switch off and unplug your machine from the outlet for at least 30 seconds. Once you've done this, plug the machine back in and test it - the error code should have cleared.

If you're unable to reset your machine, please contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly so we can provide further assistance. If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty. When you have your machine easily to hand, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

What does error code E8 mean on the dyson hot/cold fan mean?

Possibly it doesn't like the heat setting and shuts itself off to prevent melting or possibly fire. Be sure that it is not blocked so cold air goes in freely. Try to lower the temp setting and see what happens.

My dyson hot fan will not give out air under 24 degrees?

Hi Charlie, it's Jack at Dyson.

When you adjust the target temperature of your Dyson Hot fan heater (shown on the LED display on the base), you're setting the target temperature you would like the room heated to. The actual temperature of airflow produced by the fan heater will not vary.

If the heater won't run below 24 degrees, this is likely to be because the temperature of the room you're in is equal to or warmer than 24 degrees. The heater will only turn itself on if the temperature drops below 24 degrees, and once the room temperature reaches this target once again, the fan will turn itself back to monitoring mode.

I've attached our Getting started video below which shows how to adjust the temperature, using the remote or the controls on the base.

I hope this makes sense. It sounds as if your machine is working correctly, but if you'd like any further advice from our experts you can reach us at 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dyson hot and cold fan only works in hot mode

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

When you adjust the target temperature of your Dyson Hot fan heater (shown on the LED display on the base), you're setting the target temperature you would like the room heated to. The actual temperature of airflow produced by the fan heater will not vary.

If the heater won't run below 25 degrees, this is likely to be because the temperature of the room you're in is equal to or warmer than 25 degrees. The heater will only turn itself on if the temperature drops below 25 degrees, and once the room temperature reaches this target once again, the fan will turn itself back to monitoring mode.
