How do I add music to my vivid 12 mp3 player and charge it?

my sharper image mp4 usb cord won't charge or connect to the computer for me to add on music what should i do?

I PLUGGED IN MY MP3 PLAYER TO THE COMPUTER AND THE SCREEN ON MY MP3 PLAYER LIGHTS UP BUT the normal screen image for when you normally plug it into the computer ISN'T THERE AND I CAN'T ADD MUSIC ON MY MP3 PLAYER.

try messing with the usb settings on the mp3 player in settings/ system settings/ USB mode/ for a newer PC try MSC for an Older PC or mac try Mtp and if that dosen't work try auto detect just mess around with it fir a while

It will take several hours to charge fully the first time. While it is charging you can add music. When you see the plug icon in the upper right corner, it is fully charged.
