I was told by an ac tech that my unit double coiled and it needs to have the coils split to clean them. Is this true?

If you are talking about the condenser coil then YES those coil can be split .
If Technician used coil cleaner inside and out I am pretty sure he can get all dirt out without splitting the coil

I doubt it. Never heard of "splitting" a coil. In rare cases some coils need to be removed from the system and cleaned with a garden house outside. Maybe this is what he is talking about, we call that a pull and clean.

SOURCE: AC not cooling enough

Probably low on refrigerant, if valve moves when heated it is working, assuming the system is matched.

welcome to Fixya !

Here are some steps that you may follow.
Take come caustic soda ,(put a table spoon in one glass water) that will be in powder form (caustic soda) ,
if you do not have this caustic soda , then add shampoo to water (quantity same), take a small brush that should be a little big then a tooth brush manually dip the brush and clean it all the ways that the grills should be shinny.
As you have told us that from 5 years its not being cleaned so it needs a service , if you want to make it cool as you want this season then you have to clean it your self by brush ,and water+shampoo .or caustic soda. but it needs to be clean ,,if you can take it out the whole unit yourself and you have a a good pressure of water.like the service stations have then you can clean it , but try to cover up wires or else you may have electric shocks after you clean and fit your unit so make sure to properly dry it ( with a blower or something ).

DO comment here if it helps you in any manner
Best Regards

Have a Sanyo split inverter AC unit. On turning it on, operation lamp blinks and unit does not cool. Please help.

The blinking is an indicator that it needs service. Call a technician! Ask if they are experienced in mini split systems. You can check the air filters. Check the outdoor coil to see if its clean or covered up with dirt. And at the breaker or disconnect, turn off power, wait 5 mins, and turn it back on. Then give it 3-5 mins to see if it will reset itself. If this don't work, call a tech/service provider! These units are troublesome to troubleshoot.

My carrier split ac trip after some time and green light blinking contsly

If this is a ductless split call a tech! The ductless split systems can be a troublesome unit to diagnose. A few things to try. Clean air filters and ensure coil behind is clean. And build up or debris on blower wheel (indoor fan blades) will cause unit to fault. Turn off power at breaker or disconnect and clean (with water hose and medium pressure) the outdoor coil. Be sure you will not damage outdoor coils fins with too much water pressure. Turn power on. If this simple service don't do it again, call a tech! Be sure to ask if they have someone who is experienced with mini split systems and be patient. Even the best technician will need to call carrier for tech support.

My gree split type ac error F4 what is problem

Name of malfunction = Outdoor tube sensor open or short circuit
Display of double eight code = F4

this means your outdoor unit cannot read the temperature sensor that is attached to the coil. Could be a bad sensor, a loose connector, or bad wiring. If you feel like a gambler, grab a multimeter and a drill driver and start probing wires after you dismantle the outdoor unit. Otherwise, call a tech to do an estimate or repair.

Celiera 12000 btu Mini-split ac unit blows cool air but not as cold as in the past. Unit has been installed for 3 years and functioned fine until now. Is it likely that I simply need additional freon?

It's 'possible' but not likely that you need additional freon.

What is more likely is the 'filter' (for inside coil) is dirty and possibly the coil itself - and/or - the outside coil is dirty.

I would check out the filter - if dirty - I would change it and would also inspect the inside coil. If it's also dirty I would clean it the best I could (with a brush of some sort).

I would also check the outside coil and clean it if need be.

Hope this helps.

Do I need to clean coils in haier hwro6xc7 air conditioner

You always need to keep both coils clean on your AC.

The evaporator coil (where room air is drawn in and through a filter) - is easy to keep clean - 'just keep the filter changed on a regular basis and you will probably never need to actually clean the evaporator coil. Occasionaly you might need to brush the coil with a brush or something - but this is not a big concern.

The condenser coil (where hot air blows from) is even 'easier,' for you don't have to mess with a filter, just keep the coil clean. You can occasionally pull the unit (when needed) and wash this coil with a water hose. In reality this coil will not get very dirty very fast - although it will (over time) acquire some dirt/dust, but as I say - it is pretty easy to keep clean. Note: Condensing units (split systems) that sit in a yard will get much dirtier much faster than window/thru the wall units such as yours, but you still have to keep a eye on the coil.

A good rule of thumb - is to change the filter (in front of the evaporator coil) - monthly.

As for the condenser coil (where hot air blows from) you can easy see it and just need to keep it clean, with no set (usually) time to do so.

good luck!

Split system blower not blowing any air on heat or ac

You maybe iced up. Turn of AC turn fan on and wait about 45 minutes. If fan is blowing air out of vents chances are you were iced up. Two reason for iceing up are AC coil dirty and low on Freon. You need a service tech to check your Charge on system. If you can get to the coil to clean it grreat. Spray it with water let it set and brush clean with a toilet stool bruch. It will not damage the coil. If it is to stopped up you may have to have a service tech chemicaly clean the coil. Fan motors do go out. ou realy need a service tech to check this Rusty
